Sounds great! Not annoying!
We bought this as an instrument for our 5 year old. It has a lovely tone! He can just bang on it, all the pitches, no pattern, no rhythm, and the chimes are still so pleasant and peaceful. We were honestly very surprised at how good it sounds.It also comes with a book, with music notated via numbers. Many of the songs were not familar to me but my child learned twinkle twinkle from the book, which he loved.This is a great little instrument and it gives a nice understanding of the Western scale. It would be a great instrument in a classroom as well.

Nice, small drum nice sound
Very nice drum with very nice sound non-irritating to the ears like some of the less qualities of other drums. High highly recommend.

The girls loved it
My granddaughters are all interested in music, so this was a perfect gift that they could share. Before the evening was out they were actually playing some of the songs in the book. The sound was balanced, and the tunes they played were beautiful.It comes with a wonderful carrying case too.For the price, I actually could have gotten one for each of them, but I also want them to learn how to share.I was so happy with the quality and the girls were tickled to have a convenience size little drum.

I haven't used it in the rain. I bought it for my daughter and she loves it. It actually is very melodious and soothing.

Incredibly beautiful sound - the kids loved it!
Bought this for my grandchildren, age 18 months and 7 years. They LOVED IT! It is surprising quality at this price and I own an expensive 16" steel tongue drum! This little one sounds nearly as beautiful for a fraction of the price! Comes with mallets, finger mallets and a little song book. The kids tossed the songbook and both are just playing it with their hands and the mallet. The best part is that even when they are banging on it recklessly, the sound is still lovely, so it won't drive you crazy like other kids instruments.
