I gave this headset a fair trial before writing this review. On the surface, it does a lot right: pairing is easy, signal quality for both transmitting and receiving is excellent, and the battery life is impressive. Unfortunately, there’s a major flaw that makes it unusable for my needs. The lapel receiver leaks audio loudly; even when the volume is turned down to the point that I can barely hear it through the earpiece, the sound from the lapel unit is clearly audible to anyone nearby. In a quiet or professional setting where discretion is critical, this is a dealbreaker. It defeats the entire purpose of a surveillance-style earpiece. If you work in a loud environment like event security or construction, this might not be a concern. But for anyone who needs privacy, silence, or true audio discretion, I cannot recommend this product. It's unfortunate, because everything else worked well. But the one thing it needed to do right... it failed. **UPDATE** SAMCOM support reached out to me very quickly to remedy my issue. SAMCOM replied quickly within 24 hours, and we were able to determine the treatment measure and got me a working replacement. The replacement was far better and had little audio leakage. I applaud SAMCOM for their customer service and willingness to address the issue. This unit checks all the boxes I was looking for!

I used this last night for work and I like the fact that I’m not tethered to my radio via a wire and it’s comfortable to wear but the audio quality is absolutely horrible! My boss said he could hear me perfectly clear on his end but on my end it sounds very crackly and distorted. It is very hard to understand anything anyone is saying. I tried turning the volume down thinking maybe that was the issue but it’s the same at all volume settings. Battery and connectivity wise i had zero issues with it disconnecting and I ran it for six hours straight with no issues with the battery or it disconnecting. I hate to say it but the $16 wired ear piece I have sounds crystal clear and I’ll probably use that more but I’d never have spent $80 for this had I known how bad the audio would be.

I am KO6CZD, general amateur radio operator. I have high expectations for my equipment. Summary In short, this unit has performed beyond expectation. It's durable, well-made and works as expected out of the box. Tired of dealing with radio microphone cables? Buy this product. Key Points 1. Application I use this device on HF and HT units all the time, especially for local nets and volunteer events. The device has functioned exactly as expected, no matter the application (HF, VHF/UHF on different radios). Simply attach the bluetooth dongle to your radio, attach the microphone to your shirt and ear, turn both devices on and they simply connect and work out of the box. 2. Battery I regularly volunteer for events that last from around 5am to 1-2pm, which is 8-9 hours. The device battery has lasted throughout the entirety of these events when mostly receiving, however when transmitting frequently over an extended period of time last many hours, expect the battery life to be a bit shorter. However, I am extremely pleased with the battery life for such as small, flexible bluetooth device. Bring a small battery with you, perhaps one you use to charge your phone with, and you'll be able to recharge both the bluetooth dongle and earpiece using the provided Type-C charging ports. 3. Audio Quality The weight of the ear piece is not significant at all and is what I'd consider to be light, especially when using the provided clips to attach to the lapel or neck of your shirt - you'll forget it's even there like I do. Using your radio volume knob, you can adjust the volume to be whatever level you desire. The audio quality is crystal clear depending on reception. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the overall audio quality of this device. 4. Push to Talk The push to talk works extremely well, and if you're using a repeater you will need give the device an extra second to connect before keying up, just to be sure, but no more than an extra second. People will not be able to distinguish whether you're talking directly on your HT or the bluetooth microphone, which is excellent. 5. Range I'd say 20 feet plus or minus depending on obstacles like walls, vehicles, etc, however this is still much more freedom than what an attached cabled microphone can provide. Overall, this unit has performed beyond expectation, which is why I use it all the time! * * * * *

Received 2 of these today. Connection is straight forward easy to do and pairs right away. The sound is crisp and clear and the unit functions well. The issue is with the sound leakage on both units. It is very audible right from the box, improves slightly when covering the charging port, but not enough. I bought these for security use in a fairly quiet environment with close contact with bystanders, as such privacy is vital. I did see a review of this same issue which they said ended up being a bad unit. Was hoping they corrected the issue. These would have been a great option for my team. UPDATE: Samcom customer service responded very quickly. They informed me they were going to send me a new unit with better packing around the speaker in the box to prevent the sound leakage. Will update my rating accordingly if they do indeed follow through on their promise.
