SAMCOM BTEAR01 Wireless Headset Earpiece Ear piece Clear Acoustic Tube

I gave this headset a fair trial before writing this review. On the surface, it does a lot right: pairing is easy, signal quality for both transmitting and receiving is excellent, and the battery life is impressive. Unfortunately, there’s a major flaw that makes it unusable for my needs. The lapel receiver leaks audio loudly; even when the volume is turned down to the point that I can barely hear it through the earpiece, the sound from the lapel unit is clearly audible to anyone nearby. In a quiet or professional setting where discretion is critical, this is a dealbreaker. It defeats the entire purpose of a surveillance-style earpiece. If you work in a loud environment like event security or construction, this might not be a concern. But for anyone who needs privacy, silence, or true audio discretion, I cannot recommend this product. It's unfortunate, because everything else worked well. But the one thing it needed to do right... it failed. **UPDATE** SAMCOM support reached out to me very quickly to remedy my issue. SAMCOM replied quickly within 24 hours, and we were able to determine the treatment measure and got me a working replacement. The replacement was far better and had little audio leakage. I applaud SAMCOM for their customer service and willingness to address the issue. This unit checks all the boxes I was looking for!

Very disappointing. I read reviews where some users reported sound leaking from the lapel mic louder than what was making it to the earpiece and how they had gotten replacements that fixed the problem - so I assumed or hoped they had fixed the design. I’m not sure if I got old stock or if their QA is seriously deficient. But I have the same issue, and it’s really bad, like wearing a wireless speaker on your sport coat. The sound quality in the earpiece is actually great (if only I was the only one hearing it). The connectivity is easy (but that doesn’t matter, since it fails its intended purpose). So. It’s almost a great product. I was the test case for a team that wanted to ditch the wired versions of these, but can you imagine a church security team member talking to each others about suspicious individuals or a problem in the parking lot but having everyone near any of the ushers or security folks hearing the whole conversation better than the person wearing the earpiece? Total lack of discretion, maybe even tempting a lawsuit. This fails the test of a good product, 100%. And now I know they know about the issue and just keep shipping them this way. Save the trip and time needed to send it back. I’m going to have to keep looking.

I was really hoping that this would solve the issue of cords using a acoustic tube with my radio. By having the Bluetooth, you eliminate being tethered to cords. However even though it did work, the wound was more muffled then with other acoustic earpieces I have used in the past. I believe the issue is that the voice coil in the device is very tiny compared to others. I have returned this device, for this reason, hopefully this can be fixed in later versions. I did however find that Samcome has a Bluetooth that works on an earpiece, I am going to try that model. UPDATE I was contacted by SAMCOM support after posting my review. They were extremely helpful and offered to send me another unit. They are willing to work with me to resolve the issues that I encountered. The replacement unit worked perfectly, and the sound was clear. Their customer support is very high bar, and will continue to purchase items from SAMCOM. SAMCOME sent me a replacement surveillance earpiece. I didn't experience any distorted,or muffled sounds. The unit worked flawlessly, even in a noisy concert environment. The Bluetooth turns on and pairs within a second or two of turning on, and is bulletproof. I have never lost the Bluetooth connection once established. I can now highly recommended this unit., I would not hesitate to purchase items from SAMCOME, as there support is above board. They responded immediately to my concerns and went above and beyond to insure my satisfaction. I would certainly order from them again, as they back their product. It is for this reason, i am changing my review to five stars.

The headset connects automatically and has a long range which is great. However, some down sides that are too big to ignore. One is everyone can hear what is being said to you. So if you are needing what is said to you to be discreet then this is not for you. Also the mic picks up you talking and without holding the button down you can hear yourself in your ear. I find it quite distracting when speaking to someone face to face.

I've been using this product for about a month for church security. I definitely prefer this over the wired version that I was using. Not being tethered to my radio is very helpful. It has audio prompts telling you when "Power On", "Power Off", "Connected", "Disconnected" and will also tell you when the battery is low. It fits comfortably inside the ear canal with 3 earbuds of different sizes to choose from. The earbuds have holes around the acoustic tubing so that you can hear and maintain situational awareness. When I do my "radio check", my team members indicate "Loud and clear". They don't respond that way to other radio checks, so, I may be mistaken, but I believe this unit to be clearer and louder than the wired version we are using. Here's what I think needs improvement: The PTT button is small, and is located on the side of the unit (unit is thin and wide), right next to the Power button. In a stressful situation, I could see the PTT button being hard to find, or the possibility of accidentally powering the unit off by mistake while trying to transmit. If Samcom would consider making the PTT button larger, and relocating it to the face of the unit where the "SAMCOM" print is currently located, this would be a major improvement to an already great product. Despite this issue, I would still highly recommend this unit!

This is great being wireless and not having wires hanging inside my shirt. The ear piece is the best I've heard. The rubber part is made to be clear but also lets you hear your surroundings, it doesn't feel or sound like an ear plug. The mic is nice and clear with good out put. I only did 4 stars due to one issue. The in coming audio can be heard from the microphone piece. If in a quite area someone next to you can hear what you are listing to. Samcom did help trying to fix this by sending me another unit quickly. The new one is quieter and much better. If they could some how isolate direct the speaker sending sound through the clear tube so it would not radiate out it would be perfect. Over all I am happy with the device and the customer service is top notch.

Received 2 of these today. Connection is straight forward easy to do and pairs right away. The sound is crisp and clear and the unit functions well. The issue is with the sound leakage on both units. It is very audible right from the box, improves slightly when covering the charging port, but not enough. I bought these for security use in a fairly quiet environment with close contact with bystanders, as such privacy is vital. I did see a review of this same issue which they said ended up being a bad unit. Was hoping they corrected the issue. These would have been a great option for my team. UPDATE: Samcom customer service responded very quickly. They informed me they were going to send me a new unit with better packing around the speaker in the box to prevent the sound leakage. Will update my rating accordingly if they do indeed follow through on their promise.

I used this last night for work and I like the fact that I’m not tethered to my radio via a wire and it’s comfortable to wear but the audio quality is absolutely horrible! My boss said he could hear me perfectly clear on his end but on my end it sounds very crackly and distorted. It is very hard to understand anything anyone is saying. I tried turning the volume down thinking maybe that was the issue but it’s the same at all volume settings. Battery and connectivity wise i had zero issues with it disconnecting and I ran it for six hours straight with no issues with the battery or it disconnecting. I hate to say it but the $16 wired ear piece I have sounds crystal clear and I’ll probably use that more but I’d never have spent $80 for this had I known how bad the audio would be.
