Keeps him busy, but hard to adjust
This is a very durable little toy/food dispenser with a few notes. First off, my dog is an approximately 70 lb. german shephard and hound?/horse? mix that inhales his food. He showed up near my drive and wandering a few months ago, so I took him in. I already have a very territorial lab that has dibs on the house, and this new dog is young and very energetic, so he stays outside, staked in the front yard where he can still look in the windows, be interacted with during the day and evening and get out of the weather on one of four dog beds. He showed up in January when it was very cold outside, so I bought this toy for him to stay entertained while I had him in the garage and help with the food inhaling issue. It was very loud as he scooted/slid it around the concrete floor, but held up just fine. When the weather warmed up, he was moved outside where he could play with this on the concrete patio. Again, it slides with much force, which he uses because he is very food driven. I either stay out there with him or check on him often when it's quiet (like a small child, lol) to make sure he hasn't gotten it out of his 30 ft. radius, which does happen with nothing for it to bounce off of to stay in bounds.Once he got the hang of getting the food out and was determined to do so, I decided to make it a bit more difficult for the food to come out. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the inside piece that makes the food harder to get out, to turn, and when I tried to use pliers, the little flap you are supposed to use to turn it, turned white with weakness, so I stopped trying. A few weeks later, the cube was run over by a car and the center piece popped completely out and then was ran over. I contacted the manufacturer who has yet to respond (it's been about 3 weeks) about getting a replacement center piece because this thing would never completely burn or decompose in a landfill, and I try to be environmentally thoughtful as much as possible. Still waiting on their reply.....Since the manufacturer didn't/hasn't responded and my dog needed this toy and I didn't want to throw it away, I started just putting food in it and then using duct tape to cover the hole (I use three strips over the hole) and cut a small rectangle out in the center. It works fine that way until he gets frustrated and manages to get a tooth into the little hole and pulls the duct tape off. That's usually towards the end of the session, so it's not that big of a deal. I'm usually out there to supervise, since I'm letting my three other dogs hang out in the drop zone and I don't want any trouble amongst them over food rights. (usually I shake out some food out of his area for the other dogs to mill around and eat while he's playing with his toy so we keep it fair 'cause we are all about equal fairness around here. Btw, the other three dogs are 7+ years old and don't have the ambition or desire to try this toy, though I'm not sure he would even let them, because it kind of technically has just been his toy since the beginning)All of that being said, I'm not sure I'd ever want to use this in my house on my hardwood floors or carpets. First off, if your dog is very food driven, he/she will probably send this thing flying into cabinets, furniture, etc., which may or may not be an issue, but it would be for me. Secondly, even if I didn't care about my floors or furniture getting dinged and scratched up and oil or crumbs from the food getting on the floors and carpets, I kind of like quiet and this thing is kind of loud between the rattling of food and the scooting/sliding around. I could easily hear it in the house when he was playing with it in the garage. This dog is very hard on bones and stuff and aside from being scuffed up, it is still holding together just fine and our new method of using duct tape is working well. Depending on your circumstances, it may be what you are looking for. I only gave it three stars because it is sort of a pain to get the food in the small hole and very hard to adjust how much food comes out, which was one of the reasons I bought it. I measure out my dogs' food, so I used my measure cup to fill it, which kept my hands from getting greasy/dirty from the food. Also disappointed that the manufacturer apparently doesn't care about customer service, which counts for a lot to me when there are so many other options available.

Sturdiest Food Dispensing Dog Toy We've Tried
We have a 9 month old lab mix puppy who is extremely high energy-- even with 4 miles or more worth of walks per day he has lots of excess energy. We've taken to serving his meals solely out of food-dispensing toys as it keeps him entertained and makes him think. This is the 6th food dispensing toy we've tried and it's the one that has lasted the longest and seems to take him the longest amount of time to get all of the kibble out of it, though he can still empty it pretty fast! We've tried Omega Paw Tricky Treat Ball, Large and Omega Tricky Treat Ball Soccer both of which worked well but broke after prolonged use. The Kong Wobbler Dog Toy and PetSafe Busy Buddy Twist 'n Treat Dog Toy, Large were chewed apart pretty quickly and were useless after that. And our dog figured out that if he just tipped the Premier Busy Buddy Tug-A-Jug, Medium/Large with the opening down he could dump most of the kibble out without doing any work and consequently he would be able to get all the kibble out within seconds. With the large Buster Food Cube, though, there really isn't any way he can get the kibble out without actually rolling it around, and it has lasted quite a while. It's made out of hard plastic so it can be pretty loud when used on a hard surface. We've mainly been having him use it outside on the grass though, so it's quieter and it's less likely that he'll break it by dropping it as opposed to if he used it on a hard surface. When he wants a refill, though, he'll drop it on the metal door sill, which he does quite a lot, and it has still held up fine. If we see him chewing on it when there's nothing in it we just put it away until the next meal time, but the hard plastic seems like it isn't very appealing to chew on, so that isn't much of a problem. Wiping off the cube is also easy, as opposed to with other treat balls that have ridges where dirt and such can get stuck. When you pour the kibble or treats in the cube you kind of have to cover the hole with your hand and shake the cube a little so that the food will go down into the cube and not just sit by the entrance and fall out immediately. On a final note, this type of toy might not be for all dogs-- we tried to get our other dog, who is 8 years old, to use it, and she couldn't figure it out even though we kept showing her how to use it-- she would just eat the food that came out when I rolled it around and then stare at me expectantly, waiting for me to make more food come out of it. We already knew the puppy seemed to be more intelligent than the 8 year old dog, though, but we still love our clueless doggy!Edit to add: the only problem with this product is the center piece that can be removed. On the first Buster Food Cube we purchased, this center piece fit in the cube very snugly and we never even removed it. It has been over two years since this initial review and we have ordered several additional Buster Food Cubes in that time. On some of the cubes, the center piece is somewhat loose-- this is a problem as if a dog licks or chews the cube enough they are sometimes able to get the center piece out of the cube. This allows the dog to get at the kibble very easily, and chewing on the center piece can render the cube useless because a chewed center piece sometimes cannot fit back in the cube. I can also see that it would be possible for a dog to chew pieces off of the center piece once it is out of the cube, and it would be possible for these chewed plastic pieces to harm the dog if they got stuck in their throat, etc.We still like the Buster Food Cube, but it is better to purchase one in a shop, where you can make sure that the center piece fits snugly in the cube and will not come loose. Although it is less expensive on Amazon, ordering one can be hit-and-miss.

Not for Hard Surfaces or For Dogs New to Puzzle Toys
I have yet to figure out how to adjust the level of difficulty, the product only allows for locked and unlocked position of the core. The core is difficult to remove the first time but is easier after the first removal. It is a little hard to clean, use dry treats only to avoid scummy corners. My dog does find the cube hard to flip on the hard floor, the all plastic version of the product would be best for carpet or grass only. Only three stars as the product does not actually adjust levels and is difficult to flip making it difficult to get my dog interested in playing with it.

My girl loved it, but it is super loud
Not exactly what i wanted, but close enough. Won’t recommend if you have non-carpeted floors. Super loud on bare floors, and not a good idea if you’d rather not anger neighbors who live below you in an apartment complex

Golden approved!
My 7 month old Golden loves it!! It is loud on hardwood floors, but hardwood, carpet, doesn't matter she has a blast with it. Played 3 hours straight, only taking time out for 2 pee breaks! Had to put it on the hardest level as she was getting them out too easily.

Maybe it's only me or my dog, but none of us like it.
Whatever I fill this toy with, my dog don't touch it. She got that there was food in the inside, she was able to get them a couple of time, but she ignores it most of the time.Plus, it gives me a very cheap feeling and it's very, very noisy. I am used to noisy toys, as dogs have to play with them to get food out of it, but nothing was doing this much noise before. I should have bought something else. I'll stick with balls. Even when they knock on the wall or get down the stairs, they don't make as much noise and - more importantly - my dog at least likes them.

Awesome dog feeder/toy
Could not find one anywhere near me so went to my next best store Amazon.ca. This product is great at being both a slow feeder and a toy to keep your dog occupied !. The product was delivered quite quickly ny the seller and has performed as promised.
