More than seventy tasters have travelled around Italy to source the very best wines. The tastings - all blind - took place in consortiums and local chambers of commerce and were supported by experts in the field, sommeliers and trade buyers. The guide is completely accessible, organised in a simple, clear and functional way. Sections are arranged by individual winery - name, address, number of hectares of vineyard, method of cultivation (conventional, organic, biodynamic or natural). Entries are descriptive, of history and geographical region; evaluating the wines by the celebrated method of Bicchieri, or glasses, ranging from one, to a maximum of Tre Bicchieri. The guide also pays special attention to wineries that are eco-sensitive, awarding Tre Bicchieri Verdi to bottles that come from those with a particular regard for the environment. Review: Five Stars - Great guide, extensive overview of Italian wines, a must have Review: a good read and guide for vineyards to visit - Very informative, a good read and guide for vineyards to visit.

This is the most comprehensive yearly review of Italian wines ...
This is the most comprehensive yearly review of Italian wines. The smaller format is much more versatile. This is a must for people in the wine industry, as well as for wine aficionados.

My big problem is that I suspect it is mainly useful in Italy
I am fond of Italian wines and travel in Italy every year. This guide seems comprehensive and well informed. A minor gripe is that the indices are not very helpful. My big problem is that I suspect it is mainly useful in Italy. Even in very large U. S. online wine stores, the Italian wines they have on offer mostly go unmentioned in this guide. Many wonderful Italian wines are just not exported at all, or in extremely limited quantities. This is not a great guide for the U. S. consumer.
