This is a good middle of the road steamer it has the metal band so the steamer doesn't get misshapen out of whack. But it is very well put together it's not a piece of crap. For anybody looking to buy a steamer that wants to buy a good one but doesn't want to spend a lot of money but doesn't want to buy a cheap one that's going to work and crack I would suggest buying this one

This steamer is the perfect size to serve 1-3 people. The silicone mats keep smaller pieces from falling through the slots. The handles do not get hot. The metal straps work great at keeping the steamers' shape. The veggies have been perfectly steamed every time!

Very well made. The metal ring should add durability. However, the plastic handles on the side hit the side of the wok, so we thought they might get too hot if used in the wok. Would be helpful if placed in a shallower pan. Might remove the handles. Still good value.

I doubt this is any better than the other, virtually identical steamers on Amazon, although the steel rings seem well designed to keep the rims intact. It steams dumplings beautifully in a large pan of boiling water. I can lift it by the silicone-coated handles with my bare hands even after it's been steaming for more than 10 minutes. I'd also note that, in addition to the reusable silicone liners, I received several disposable paper liners in the package, which work as well as the silicone ones. I'm always careful to soak the bottom for a few minutes before use, and to clean it and let it dry in a warm and (when weather permits) sunny spot afterward. Unlike a few other reviewers, I've had no difficulty cleaning or maintaining this steamer. After a couple months of use, I see no signs of mold or other deterioration.

Just like the old country. Work very well on a Chinese wok. Large enough to steam a whole fish or a 4 lb chicken..

I am extremely disappointed with the quality of this product. The bamboo basket arrived unsealed and clearly damaged. Worse, the basket itself is filled with mold and dirt. Since this item is intended for food, this is a health hazard and completely unacceptable.
