Solid performer from Mackie
I really like this particular model because I don't have to carry around spare batteries. Of course, you are reliant upon your mixer having phantom power, so that is an important limitation to be aware of if you are relying upon other people's boards. But if you are using your own board, this is a cool piece of hardware and has a lot of nice features like the 15db pad, the ability to combine two sources or use the second 1/4" jack as a "through" jack. I also like the ability to switch polarity and the ground lift. In addition, it feels like a solid little box that is well made. I've been using them for about a year now with no issues - just nice quiet signal.

Ground loop eliminated!
I work for a local vintage theater that is being remodeled and one of the issues was a ground loop problem when connecting multiple audio mixers across multiple circuits. This stereo passive box worked great, just be aware that you will lose a little amplification as it drops the signal to line level.

Crystal clear sound for studio inputs!
Crystal clear sound quality, very low noise for my studio inputs. I was getting noise when recording my Yamaha digital stage piano through my older ART DI box - it has seen a lot of use and its fair share of drops over 10+ years of service. After the cables tested clear, I replaced my DI with this Mackie MDB-2P Stereo Passive Direct Box, and the noise was instantly gone! I only wish I had bought it sooner. This is much heavier and feels much sturdier than the ART DI box. While it is a bit more expensive than the ART unit, this is definitely a significant upgrade, competitive with Whirlwind in its performance at half the price.I appreciate the two separate channels in one compact box; each with a passthrough for a secondary send and an independent 15db pad switch. The machine feels very sturdy, and the switches are easy to use with a firm and responsive tactile click. I'm using it for my lesson and recording studio, and while I'm glad it has the bumpers to protect the faces with switches, I would be very careful about tossing it in a bag for travel where those switches could get banged around. If you're a road warrior and don't like securing your cargo, you'd probably be better off with a more streamlined box. But for the studio or for the careful packer, this is a great value option that sounds, feels, and looks thoroughly professional.

Solid, flexible, affordable active direct box
Very solidly built, quiet, with many useful features. An excellent value compared with other active direct boxes that don't include amp or cabinet simulators. Phantom-powered (48v) so you'll need a mixer on the output side of the XLR, although it will send the Thru signal to an amp even when the MDB-1A isn't powered (with the Merge/dual input off). This last feature is actually very useful not only for driving an amp onstage as a monitor while the low-Z signal goes to the mixer. I have the MDB-1A on my pedal board, and the Thru lets me practice with an amp without taking things apart when I'm not using a mixer. Or, as in the picture I'm running modulation & OD/distortion in two separate signal chains before merging them in the MDP-1A.

Needed a 2 of these for a stereo line out solution from PC to mixer for OBS. Works perfect.
I needed one of these for main PC audio to capture game audio and some OBS monitored stuff and another one to capture communications audio, so I could feed that to another channel with it's own mix that went back out to a BEHRINGER U-PHORIA UMC202HD, 2-Channel from that bus, so the people on coms wouldn't have to hear themselves come back at them. I also had another UMC202HD to capture the main mix from the mixer to throw into OBS. Both devices are plug and play and are completely clean without buzz/noise. I used to run everything through the 1/8 inch jacks on the PC because it was good enough, but then I picked up a ton of cable whine and ground buzz out of no where that I couldn't seem to eliminate even though everything was running through a power conditioner. These devices solved my problems and have been work horses in my studio ever since.
