Lizzie Borden Took An Axe [DVD] [2014]

Brilliant film worth a watch as its a true story

I love this film it keeps giving right until the end. The plot although known is written well and will not disappoint.

The acting is excellent, and the story line is good, it is based on actual events but the film dragged a little in places which made me lose interest a little from time to time. There were some good gory bits and i liked the fact it's set in the 1800's but there are no twists and the ending left me feeling deflated, it could have been better.I wouldn't watch it again but it's worth a look

After becoming addicted to the Lizzie Borden Chronicles I really wanted to see a prequel and this is definitely it. On reading mixed reviews I ordered it and this now takes precedence over my entire horror collection. This film runs as historically accurate to the real happenings on that fateful day in Massachusetts. Christina Ricci plays the ever so stern Lizzie Borden fantastically. This film covers her family life her love of going to church that day and all the trial too. It's absolutely brilliant! If you loved the "did she do it" kind of movie then this is for you

We only watched this as my 14 year old is studying it as part of GCSE Drama. However we all really enjoyed it. The period costume and and set is great. Quality cast and intriguing story. It’s never going to be a block buster but definitely a good rainy day watch - nb. There are a couple of grusome scenes if you are squeamish - just look a way it dosnt last long.

Not a bad film, not the best though. The heavy metal music that pops up through the film is off putting as heavy metal wasn't even around during the period of this film. A bit more back story to the killings would have been good too. The film starts like the day before she allegedly killed them so not enough depth shown as too why. Plus the research wasn't done that well. there are clear errors in the film such as how you could see Mrs Bordens bedroom as you came up the stairs but in the film this is not the case.

I watched this film because i am very interested in her case. This film is terrible, it misses out the charachter of John Morse who was staying in the house at the time, and i personally believe he knew all about it. Christina Ricci is not a great actress anyway, but this movie is tripe.

Good film, not entirely factual and biased in respect of Lizzie's guilt, (which I don't agree with). Well acted though, albeit from a slanted perspective.
