Are there two fulcrum hinges or just one?

Just One, but this is a beautiful and well made opener. I have been giving them as gifts.

Laguiole is a French company. I believe most of these inexpensive corkscrews are made in China. Hence, the cheap price. The ones made in France cost more .

What is the handle made of?

It says wood and I believe it. Once I recieved the first opener, I was sooooo pleased with the feel, look, and function of the product, that I order another one to have a backup. I worked in a 'tux' restaurant where every table had a bottle or two on wine, your opener was a very important prop for the show. I loved the opener I had then, but I wish I would have had this one...and for the price, buy two.
