ITO EN Japanese Barley Tea Kaori Kaoru - A Refreshing Taste of Japan
As a fan of Japanese culture and beverages, I recently had the pleasure of trying the ITO EN Japanese Barley Tea Kaori Kaoru, and it's safe to say that it left a lasting impression. First and foremost, the packaging exudes elegance and simplicity, which is characteristic of many Japanese products. The tea bags are individually wrapped, ensuring freshness and convenience. The design reflects the attention to detail that is synonymous with Japanese craftsmanship. Upon brewing, the aroma is what truly stands out. The "Kaori Kaoru" (fragrance and flavor) aspect of this tea lives up to its name. The scent is subtly nutty and earthy, evoking a sense of tranquility and comfort. It's a wonderful departure from typical herbal teas and a delightful journey into the world of roasted barley. Taste-wise, this barley tea is both soothing and refreshing. It has a mild, toasty flavor profile with just a hint of sweetness, making it a perfect companion for both warm and cold servings. It's worth noting that this tea is naturally caffeine-free, which makes it suitable for sipping throughout the day or in the evening without any concerns about sleep disruption. The ITO EN Japanese Barley Tea Kaori Kaoru is not just a delightful beverage; it also boasts potential health benefits. Barley tea is known for its antioxidants and potential digestive aid properties. While it may not be a miracle elixir, it certainly adds to the appeal of this tea as a health-conscious choice. However, there's one caveat to be aware of: the tea bags are on the small side, and if you prefer a stronger brew, you might need to use multiple bags or steep them for a longer time. This isn't a major issue, but it's something to keep in mind if you enjoy a bolder flavor. In conclusion, ITO EN Japanese Barley Tea Kaori Kaoru is a delightful and aromatic tea that offers a genuine taste of Japan. Whether you're a seasoned tea connoisseur or just someone looking to explore new flavors, this tea is worth a try. Its elegance, soothing qualities, and potential health benefits make it a standout choice among barley teas. So, sit back, relax, and let the fragrant essence of Japan take you on a sensory journey with each sip.

No ‘bite’ on your taste buds!
Love this tea! A Chinese friend of mine served it to us when we visited and I ordered some right there! It has no ‘bite’ on your tongue when you drink it. Just a nice, mild tea flavor. A bit of honey or creamer would be nice in it too, but it’s very good just plain!

ITO EN Japanese Barley Tea Kaori Kaoru (Aromatic) Mugichae Tea COLD/HOT 54 Bags
Barley tea is steamed and roasted barley grain, coarsely ground in these teabags. It has no caffeine. Unlike tea from leaves or flowers, it is extracted in boiling water, or it can be cold-brewed by soaking in the refrigerator. The product name 'kaori kaoru,' or 'aromatic fragrance,' refers to its 'savory, toasty, and fragrant nature' (g00gle AI) due to high-temperature steaming and double roasting. The directions on the package are all in Japanese. Following clues in the illustrations, I simmered one bag in 10 fl oz of water for 10 minutes. The brew is dark and the aroma is similar to Japanese restaurant barley tea but with a slight coffee-like edge.

Pleasant, fragrant, and best served at any temperature.
I’ve been trying to cut down on caffeine in my diet, and switching from green tea to barley tea is an idea I had. It’s amazing being able to drink it anytime during the day, and it’s best with food as well! Taste-wise, when served cold brings out the sharpness of the tea and makes it a great afternoon drink to relax. Served hot makes it stronger in a way, and I personally feel this is great for occasions and paired with food. You do get a lot of tea bags for what you pay for, and they’re quite big that they don’t fit in an ordinary tea cup. It’s better brewed first or cold steeped in a container of your choosing, and you can share it with others or save it for later.

My New Staple for Effortless, Refreshing Caffeine-Free Drinks
ITO EN Japanese Barley Tea is a revelation for tea lovers who crave simplicity and flavor! Whether hot or cold, this tea brews like a dream—no fuss, no bitterness, just smooth, toasty perfection. For a quick cold brew, I tossed a bag in a pitcher of water overnight and woke up to crisp, refreshing sips with a nutty aroma. Hot brewing is just as easy: steep for 2-3 minutes, and you’ve got a cozy, roasted flavor that’s both earthy and subtly sweet. The versatility is unmatched. I’ve sipped it iced on sweltering days (it’s even better with a lemon wedge) and enjoyed it hot as a caffeine-free evening wind-down. The clean, robust taste never feels artificial—just pure roasted barley goodness that’s light enough for all-day hydration yet rich enough to satisfy cravings. I’m obsessed with how convenient and economical it is. One bag makes a whole pitcher, and the flavor stays bold even after hours. Plus, the caffeine-free formula means my kids can enjoy it too! No added sugars, no mess, just wholesome, delicious tea that pairs perfectly with meals or solo sipping. If you want a healthy, adaptable drink that’s as easy as water, this barley tea is a pantry essential. Five stars for being the unsung hero of my hydration routine!

The size of the bags are for 2 quarts
Very happy with my purchase. These are more like family size bags, so be aware they make 2 quarts each. The flavor is very mild.

Don’t knock it until you try it! It is easy to use, you just take one packet of the tea into a pot of boiling water and boil for 10 to 15 minutes. Enjoying it piping hot is one of our favorite ways to drink it but you can also chill it or drink it at room temperature.
