Nice Self-propelled Train that has Sound Effects when it starts up
My toddler loves this train. Runs well on his wooded track. When you push the button on the top to get it to move you can choose forward or backward, both ways play sound to start off the movement. I was also impressed to see that the magnetic connectors were compatible with the wooden train car magnetic connectors. The engine is very powerful and was able to pull multiple wooded train cars in addition to the ones included in this set. PROS: - Battery operated - Can operate forward or backward - Train sounds play when you push the forward or backward buttons on the engine car - Very powerful motor that can pull more than the included cars but also wooden cars from another set (even up hills) - Will continue to move forward or backward until you push the button again on the top of the engine car/ SUGGESTION: - Not really a con but rather a suggestion: Would be nice if the sound was able to play for more than a few seconds after buttons were pushed while the train was still moving

A must have.
One of the best toys I have seen, my son (3 yo) loves it, it moves forward and backwards, pretty nice esthetically speaking, can pull other magnetic trains from other sets, and can stay in standard train tracks. I bought two, it was just so good.

Don't buy for under 3, pinches fingers
The small blue locomotive train did not last a year with a 2 year old. The back wheel pinches kids and adults if you hold it wrong. And I tried on myself and it def hurts. It scared my kid so much he was terrified of it for months. Then the rubber tire came off the plastic wheel so it no longer has traction and could pull much. Finally the mechanism thst drives the wheel broke so its totally done. I gave it 4 stars because its meant for 3 to5 year old and he would have been better with it at 3? Also price is reasonable. I would not buy for under 3.

Great little train
This is a great little train. Works well and makes train noises. We have a three and five year old grandkids that drop them regularly with no breakage. They come with a person for each car which they love. Highly recommend for the price

Hours of entertainment
My son loves this! So glad I got it for him. He loves the little people that come with it and that he can take them out and put them back in.

Triangle Security Screws don’t let you insert a battery
Do not buy. The battery compartment is closed with tiny triangle security screws. A Philips will not work, a slotted will not work, and an Allen bit will not work. I’ve read that a T7 torx bit will fit, but I don’t have that. Those are TINY. Absolutely absurd. Instead of playing with a new toy train with my kid, I’m going to the hardware store for a stupid tiny tool that no one ever will use again.
