I am happy with the taste, scent, and overall quality of the product - I definitely feel like it helped my household get over a really awful sickness and offered a boost in energy levels. We added a heaping 2 teaspoons to our smoothies daily for a week when our immune systems were fighting something, and by the end of day 1 I was feeling less "run down" and by the end of the week we were 100%. As for taste - the serving size I used really did not alter the flavor of my smoothies at all. My smoothies for two come out to around 24 oz. For how much goodness is in this product, I was expecting a much earthier taste. I have not tried it plain in water - not really my style. It is easy to use and scoop, and I believe it is great value for the money! I love the Host Defense brand, and this product is definitely on my 'repurchase' list.

The powder is finely ground. It has a slight bitter taste but mostly tastes kind of earthy. Not grassy. Not herbal. Earthy is the best way I can describe it. If you are into heathy eating you probably have eaten stuff that tastes a lot worse than this. Since you can mix this into stuff, you can easily disguise the flavor with something else. So, my whole family takes Host Defense mushroom supplements. We have been after watching Fantastic Fungi on Netflix, we all wanted to take Paul Stamets brand as he is a renowned mycologist whose won many achievement awards in the field, and has been in the mushroom business since 1980. His products are the best of the best when it come to mushrooms. It's the gold standard. I jumped at the chance to try this immune system booster powder blend. This stuff works, but I'm not a fan of this delivery system. This tastes very earthy, mineral-y, herbal .. kinda medicinal. Which is a nod to it's purity/potency. I don't make smoothies, and I didn't care for it in my tea. I decided to dissolve it with water into a small juice glass, did a quick whisk with my mini electric mixer and then took it like a shot. I chased it down with some juice. That worked better for me, but not something I look forward to doing and honestly more steps than if I were to just swallow their supplements. I'm sticking to my capsule supplements from them, as that's just my personal preference. Excellent research, ingredients and performance, but a challenging flavor profile. It has a slight taste you'd expect from mushroom blends, but it works just the same, easily blending into my morning smoothie. You can also dissolve it in a hot drink. Seems great, so far so good.
