On the one hand, yeah these are a bit expensive per package. I found you could cover roughly 1 square foot with a single package of them if that helps anyone else plan their project. (Another spec is that if you are gluing them down onto 3/4" plywood, the total thickness ends up being either precisely 7/8" or very close to it. I discovered this when I started measuring for my piece's edge banding.)On the other hand, they really are white ash hardwood, not pine or plywood or composite material like just about every other unfinished wood/blank shape on offer. They're unusual and special in this way. White ash is gorgeous and these are too. You get grain like oak and a range of colors that are sometimes as light as birch and sometimes as dark as hickory. You can see how they look both finished and unfinished in my pictures.I wanted to do something with wood mosaic and had my heart set on the "tumbling block" pattern, and saw another reviewer had made a table with that pattern using these. They really are about as precise as you could hope for a mass machined piece of wood and they are simply perfect for a "tumbling block" pattern. I ordered more packages than I needed to that I could carefully sort them by natural color and grain variation and try to enhance the illusion. I did not stain them (they're too pretty!), just a light sanding with 220 grit and a water poly finish. I'm not even fully done with my ~24" hexagon end table and I think it looks beautiful.The only real question I have is who the manufacturer is. I searched far and wide to find out more about who "AVK Mosaic" was and... As far as I can tell it's a name used solely on Amazon for the sale of a few sizes of these diamonds and their corresponding triangles and full hexagons, and that's it. It'd be nice to know a *little* bit more about where these are coming from, but regardless they are great.

The wooden diamond shaped wood is perfect for my Mardi Gras themed project. I cut and glued glitter card stock to the wood, then glued them to a canvas. The wood is easy to work with and looking forward to finishing my project.

nice pieces, but if you're gonna make anything sizable, it's far too expensive...you could go broke. Cut your own

These do not go together, leave a crack in between. I got the small ones also they are close to perfect.
