Best filter coffee maker ever!
My husband and I don't drink tea and so the quality of the coffee we drink - and the quality of the machine which makes it is very important to us. I have to say that this is the best filter coffee maker we have ever owned - over 40 years of using them. I completely agree with other reviewers in that there is absolutely no "stewed" taste which we used to experience with previous machines even after drinking the brew shortly after it had been made (I hadn't appreciated that the glass jug staying on a hotplate was causing that flavour). There is another model of this which is programmable to enable your drink to be ready at a pre-arranged time but we didn't feel we needed that feature. This machine works incredibly quickly too - enough for two mugs is ready by the time the scrambled eggs are done! A good hint by a previous reviewer is to heat the jug with a little hot water if you think you won't be drinking it all as soon as it is made but we find the jug is so well insulated that the coffee stays good and hot for as long as we need it to. A brilliant product, well worth the money. Well done Melitta.

Truly a Great Machine.
Buy This Coffee Maker!!.I needed a new machine as mine had broken down, so I searched all over for a new one. I was VERY surprised to find that since buying my last machine the 'Law' had changed and was changed by the EU! NOW,, these machines have to turn off !! after the coffee had finished brewing, Blooming cheek, I thought, I'm so fed up with being told what I can and cannot have...... Anyway:-I decided to buy this one as it had good reviews and it had a metal Carafe, I do not like the glass ones as they can easily break and my last one from Tesco's had a metal carafe and I loved how it kept the cofee Hot, especially if you heated it up first with hot water. Ok back to this machine.First I went for this older model, to me it had 'Less' to go wrong with Less buttons. Than the newer one. (a bit cheaper too)I took note of what some people said, like how it kept the coffee hot for a few hours and more than that about how it did not make the coffee taste 'Stewed' and burnt, I must admit with my old machine that did sometimes happen... Well I am a CONVERT, this is really a great coffee machine, I am so pleased I picked this one over the others... I am used to putting a bit of hot water in to heat it up so this was no issue to me and I think this is the secret to it keeping the coffee HOT for a good THREE hours,,,,,,,,,, Plus, it is no more brewed/stewed/burnt that the very first CUP..I did think that the so called "Coffee Intensifier button" would not really work-- but it does, Honest,, I have tried it on all the settings and it does work, I have it on the last but one marker and put my usual amount of coffee in for the perfect brew.. I have had this machine for 18 days and made coffee every day, it has been Super consistent, I am so chuffed with it, I was worried that I was spending a bit to much cash on it, but it has proved worth every penny.. To help you come to a decision in buying this one or not,, From my point of view you will be glad that you did... and not look back.

Makes excellent coffee, but some gripes
Makes excellent coffee, but I found the Melitta range very confusing, and almost impossible to get the options you really want. As a result we ended up with a machine that's really too big for us (and the few people we occasionally make coffee for), and so it's quite hard to read the scale on the water container for the small amounts we want to make, and the jug isn't really designed to get the last little bit out, and it tends to spill. It pours very well for the first cup, but the second is a bit of a struggle. It is, however, much better than machines I have used in the past - very easy to add coffee, to turn on (you'd think that would be a given, but it hasn't been on other machines), it keeps the coffee hot for a good long time with no use of electricity, and it doesn't leak anywhere. It turns itself off then it's finished, and as I said before, it makes excellent coffee.

Best 'simple' coffee machine around, can't recommend highly enough.
Best coffee machine around. Every thing just works perfectly. It's easy to fill with water, and see how much is in the reservoir, from either side. The filter compartment snaps shut, possibly by magnetic attraction, but no effort is required. The jug itself is robust and the valve easy to clean. Being a thermal jug it keeps the coffee hot for a surprisingly long time. There is no strong coffee aroma that out stays its welcome as there is no heated pad. Would recommend to anyone who just wants a simple, reliable coffee machine. It also makes good coffee, if of course you put the right ground coffee in.

This machine is fantastic. The coffee tastes really good
This machine is fantastic. The coffee tastes really good, which is rare enough for filter coffee. It's steaming hot and stays that way for hours. So delighted to have a jug that doesn't drip and spill everywhere for a change, also. So happy we decided to spend some extra money for better quality.Ours arrived with a UK plug. But it's not like a continental plug couldn't be used in a UK socket. I don't know what people get so upset about sometimes.

Great product
What a great product, easy to fill with water, easy to empty the coffee grounds. This is a well designed coffee maker and with a simple on off switch, having had other coffee makers with timers etc which tend to go wrong, I think the simpler it is the better it will be.The only very slight downsides are it doesn't take a permanent filter and you have to use paper and when the insulated jug is washed , water sometimes collects inside the handle but saying that it is easily resolved by draining the jug on an angle so that the water runs out.

Great value coffee maker...
Brilliant coffee maker. The thermos flask avoid the need for your coffee to be sitting on a hot plate which causes it to become bitter. It keeps your coffe very hot for a good 2 hours. Build quality is very good too for the price.
