BaseQi Aluminum MicroSD Adapter for Microsoft Surface Book & Surface Book 2 & Surface Book 3 15" (Model-351A)

Very recently, my mom bought me a Surface Book with 128 GB of storage for my first year of college. I figured that it would be cheaper to get the 128 GB version and just increase the storage via an SD card. Upon inserting an SD card for the first time last week, I was kind of disappointed to discover that half of it hung out of the slot. Not exactly what I'd call useful (for my needs anyway). After some digging, I found the BASEQI. I was hopeful it would be as nice as everyone on here says that it is, and it definitely is! It is machined beautifully, and fits my Surface Book perfectly. It is completely flush with the body of the laptop, and is pretty easy to remove too. The color doesn't quite match 100%, but seriously... who cares?! It looks great and works great too. Thank you so much! A little pricey, but totally worth it. It's top quality, for sure... and even after purchasing this along with an SD card, it's still a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a Surface Book with a higher capacity drive. And not having to deal with a protruding SD card is obviously a huge plus too.

So I can vouch that this little adapter is quite functional and effective as a purchase still in 2022. Rather than buying the latest iPad, I realized that for my needs the older Surface Book 2 was a better fit for my primary uses. So with a simple, high quality 512MB mini SD card (separate purchase) and this adapter, was able to quickly expand the memory of my rig. (The card I purchased was already formatted, but I re-formatted it so that the card would not be recognized as removable storage but viewed as an internal drive (like a partition / folder but treated as single unit, as some software doesn't play well with saving to removable storage). From comments when I was researching the product, it seems that some customers may have inserted it the wrong way and forced it, in some cases causing damage. Just take a moment to ensure you have it aligned the right way and insert it gently, doesn't need to be forced. It sits flush and blends in quite well from a design / aesthetic perspective. Very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it. On a related note, I also purchased the Skinomi full body protector (film), also available here on Amazon, as bit of sleek and effective protection. Also highly recommended.

My two 13" Microsoft Book computers, the original and the Book 3, are fast handy and mobile but they only used full size SD Cards. They stick out too much to leave in while mobile in the case. Just like the pics in the ad it takes a micro SD card sideways, so it hardly sticks out at all, and lets me keep it in all the time so no hassles for extra storage. I have swapped cards more than a few times without any issues. Speeds were good too! Easy to use and more durable than you would think. Works perfectly.

This is the second variant of a BASEQI microSD adaptor for Surface Book memory expansions. I have one for my Surface Book 1 13", and this one for my Surface Book 2 15". **NOTE: you must buy the adaptor specified for you exact device size, as they are different physical sizes. This device fits perfectly with the appearance and color of the Surface Book, and smoothly fits into the device memory expansion slot with an almost seamless appearance. It looked and worked so great on my first Surface Book, that I needed one for my second. This device is about as high quality as the Surface Book itself. For the 2+ years I have owned BASEQI microSD adaptors, I have experienced no compatibility issues. I have even formatted both memory expansions used with both of my BASEQI variants to work as additional drives, with no issue. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. It feels like a product that should be included with every Surface Book purchase!

USE CASE I bought this for my Surface Book i5/256/dGPU. The SB has a slot to accept full size SD cards, but about half the card sticks out, like on a Macbook. Thus, you can't really use a full size SD card for storage expansion. So, you need to buy one of these adapters and a microSD card (I bought a Samsung 128GB EVO Class 10 Micro SDXC Card with Adapter up to 48MB/s (MB-MP128DA/AM) card for $50). I wanted to put a bunch of music and movies on it, since the SB is a pretty good media device. INITIAL IMPRESSIONS The adapter is pretty well made, and the color is close enough to the SB's color. Everything fits perfectly, if you run a finger along the side of the SB when this is plugged in, you can barely tell it's there. Luckily, I didn't have any boot issues with my microSD card + adapter combination - my bootup time seems to be the same regardless of using the adapter. 2 WEEK REVIEW After about 2 weeks, the adapter + SD card still seems to be performing well. I have had no issues with booting up. With the SB though, you do have to keep in mind you shouldn't detach the screen when you're using the SD card. The SB does let you do it, and it will be like unplugging a USB drive when you're doing something with it. So that's something I have to keep in mind when watching a movie or something (pause it, remember the time I was at, close the program, detach it, flip the screen around, open the program, etc). It would be nice if the Surface DTX tray icon realizes when the SD card/USB drives are in use and stop you from detaching the screen. FINAL NOTE I only give this thing 4 stars because it was $25 when I bought it. That's a heck of a lot for what is pretty much the same adapter you get for free when you buy a microSD card, just in a different size. Obviously if you can afford a Surface Book or a Macbook then BaseQi probably thinks you can splurge on this adapter, but it would be nicer at a $10 price point. Unfortunately the only alternative at this point is to buy one of the many Macbook adapters out there, but none of them fit as perfectly as this one.

As the title says this adapter Model-350A fits perfectly in the HP Elitebook 1050 G1, works and looks as if it was OEM. This particular powerhouse of a laptop already has two m2 ssd slots, so this effectively gives a third drive with a large microSD card (great for removable backup). The BaseQI adapter sits perfectly flush with the housing, and is easily extracted with a fingernail or any small edge to pull it back out. I'm a fan, and bought another for my partner.

This is a well-made and clever device that allows you to save some money on the Surface Book 2. I have the 15 inch model and saved a few hundred dollars by going with the 512GB SSD version over the 1TB. Knowing that flush-fitting SD card adapters were available made this work for me. The Base Qi 351A model is made for the 15 inch Surface Book 2. It fits perfectly. It is completely secure, out of the way, and won't snag on anything, yet leaves access to the fingernail groove from the top for ready removal if necessary. I've attempted to capture just how it fits and the fingernail groove in the picture. After installation, the SB2 immediately saw the card, and has done so after shutdowns and restarts as well. The aluminum edge of the device adds some rigidity to the adapter and compliments the finish of the Surface Book but does not exactly match it. The price seems high for something as simple as an SD card adapter, but this is a high quality device and it can allow you to save many times its cost on a high end computer like the Surface Book 2.

Got struck and doesn't work as expected cannot remove so cannot return!!

Encaja a la perfección en mi surface book 2 de 15". Queda totalmente nivelada con el lateral del equipo. Se extrae con relativa facilidad usado la uña o un objeto puntiagudo. No esta pensada para estar poniendo y sacando continuamente. Ideal para aumentar la capacidad de disco del surface, como disco secundario. La uso para eso con una SD de 128 GB y da velocidades de lectura de 90 MB/s.

Excelente Queda perfectamente en mi Book 2 de 15pulgadas Creo que es un accesorio algo caro pero debo de decir que cumple perfectamente y queda completamente escondida así así cuando la guardo la Lap en la mochila no hay riesgo de que se caiga o dañe.

Used in Surface Book 2 and currently holds a 128GB Micro SDHC card. Ideal for its intended use. A full-size SDHC card (or a normal convertor for mirco SDHC) sticks out the side, and I like to have an SD card permanently installed whether at the desk or travelling. This is an ideal, good-looking, solution to the problem. Its slightly overpriced, but I've not marked it down because of this. Why? Because even though it costs a lot it is value-for-money. It is made of metal, looks like an original part of the computer, and allows me greater versatility of storage at a far lower cost then buying a Surface Book with more internal storage.
