Great to have all the 'extras' on this US version
Bought this recently after reading all the reviews concerning the difference between the UK and US versions and finding quite a lot of extras were missing in the UK version. I have loved this film since it first came out and already had the DVD but wanted the better picture and sound quality that you get from a blu-ray disc. Just a little warning though, the DVD that comes with this US version 4-disc set (DVD in the NTSC format, 2 x blu-ray discs, the film and extras and a digital copy on disc) is that the NTSC format DVD may not play on UK machines, or if it does, the picture may not be great. The blu-ray discs work fine and that is the reason I bought this set in the first place, so I have no problem that the DVD doesn't work in my machine. The only problem I had with the order is that Royal Mail insisted I pay £12.51 before they would deliver it. Apparently they sent it from Germany, according to the return address label so I had to pay £4.51 VAT and an £8 handling fee! It made the order rather expensive in the end, about £38! 6/9/12 This is an update to the above review. I contacted the sellers and after proving how much I had to pay for VAT and the handling charge, they kindly refunded me the full amount of £12.51. So if you have the same problem with customs and the PO, do as I did. I bought mine from 'All Your Music' and I would highly recommend this seller.

Good family fun.
Very Bond-influenced, in a good way. My son really enjoyed it and sat through the whole film without too much fidgeting. It is getting on a bit now so the animation style shows it’s age a bit but generally speaking it still holds up well.

A better fantastic four film in all but name
One of the best super heroes film out there full of comedy drama and action And best of all All the family can enjoy the film as good as any marvel or dc film

OK for adults who like cartoons - not really a children's film IMO
I guess we misjudged the age range - story oddly 'adult' and format childish

Great family film!
Great film, good for kids and also parents! Look out for the fact its set in the 60s, wouldn't have known unless someone had told me! Awesome cinematography reminiscent of bond & nothing too scary (our 5yr old loves it!)

For years I was told that I had to see this film and I just never seemed motivated to do so. It was during the hay days of the likes of Shrek and Finding Nemo etc and I just didn't seem drawn to it... Finally, I got around to it and I immediately felt this film was a little different than the fare that we were seeing at the time. It was a little edgier in some way. I was instantly hooked, I loved it. This is a film about super heroes being forced into retirement because of a shift in public opinion. Some of the superheroes are having a hard time with their new reality. One super hero in particular (Mr.Fantastic) finds himself jumping at the chance to get back into action when called upon by a secretive source claiming a need for his services. This turns out to be a ploy to enact revenge against Mr.Fantastic. As it turns out, Mr.Fantastic's family, all of whom have super powers themselves, launches a rescue operation that evolves into a pretty wild ride. This movie is witty, funny, edgy and fun. The inclusion of an entire super power endowed family is a cool little aspect of this story. The actors and actress all put in fantastic voice work and the result is simply an amazing movie that has a huge cult following but never seemed to get the credit that many feel it deserves. I have had it on DVD forever but the Blu-ray has always be way too high in price to make the upgrade - until now. At under $20, I pounced and grabbed a copy. This movie has something for everyone, young and older a like. There is talk of a long anticipated sequel, I hope it comes to be. I think this is already seem as a classic by many.

Dopo aver ricevuto il DVD con la copertina in polacco un po' di spavento...ma nelle lingue del DVD c'è anche l'italiano. Per il contenuto cosa dire? I miei bimbi lo adorano! Spedizione nei tempi previsti.

In a land where AVENGERS rule the box office and superhero films paint the cinematic landscape year round, this little 2004 gem still stands out head and shoulders over many of them. If you took elements of Watchmen (the book, not the movie), Fantastic Four, and a dash of sixties spy movie cool...you'd have The Incredibles. The Parrs are a family like many of us. They deal with the frustration of a dead-end job, the often thankless work of keeping house, the social awkwardness of adolescence, and the sense of stiffled potential. However, unlike us, they have certain "gifts" that would make a mediocre existence that much more frustrating. This is where the real heart of the story lies...not in the "crash bang wallop" of the action scenes and derring do...but in the Parr's family dynamic itself. Naturally, a movie like this asks us all to suspend disbelief. That said, I also believe that Brad Bird's approach to the family situations hit the nail on the head with a very believable hammer. They are as real a family as anything I have ever seen on television or film before. I know exactly how Bob Parr feels when he climbs in that stuffy car and fights traffic to a job that he truly hates...but does so to put food on the table. It's worse when he knows he's capable of so much more. Helen Parr is the prototypical housewife and mom. She's the rock. She's the glue that keeps them all from falling apart...like many Mom's are. Violet has all the shy and awkward trappings of most 14 year old girls...knowing she's different, yet feeling like she's invisible even when she's not using her gifts. Dash...well...Dash is about as average a ten year old as they come. He's mischevious and WAY too eager to show all the kids what he can do. Who hasn't felt like that at some point in their youth?? Add to this a great villain in Jason Lee's Syndrome. His motives aren't necessarily about world domination or wealth and power. They're actually a bit less insidious than that. He wants the approval and adoration that so many of us want in life....but his approach is what makes his character nefarious and twisted. He's yet another well fleshed out character. Samuel Jackson's Frozone is a fun character that I wish had more screentime, yet his contribution to the story is great as middle-aged Mr. Incredible's voice of reason. A loyal friend...but someone who isn't afraid to tell him that he takes things too far. Oh...and what else could be said about Edna Mode?? Ten minutes of total screen time...yet steals those ten minutes effortlessly. One of the things about this movie that really wows me is the way they were able to get such GREAT performances from completely CGI characters. The facial expressions, body language, emoting....all done perfectly. In many ways, better than many real life actors. I see Holly Hunter in Helen Parr more than any other voice performance, but I do see some elements of Craig T Nelson in Bob Parr as well. Brad Bird, responsible for one of the most underrated and excellent animated films in history (The Iron Giant), really hits it out of the park. This still remains my favorite Pixar offering...and one of my favorite movies of all time.

Excellent film and quite sensibly does not overdo the crispness in 4K. The artistic style in this film does not need it. It's beautifully clear and an enjoyable warm film. The only part I found slightly ironic is how many minions they kill. I don't know why I noticed it so much this time but wow, do they kill a lot of hapless bad guys, including the big bad. (I won't lie, that was a satisfying kill but still.) A good film to just switch off to. Plenty of laughter and a few tears. Pure Pixar gold.
