Black & Decker HDL Cap. 579838-00 by BLACK+DECKER

I was about to give up on my strimmer having been fed up having to battle with spool line all summer. This adapter allows me to convert the strimmer to use with the "Black and Decker" Insert Line. What a difference! Well worth investing as I was about to throw my strimmer away!

After eight and a half years of constant use during grass cutting times it eventually got worn out on the plastic joints. Now with a new cap I hope it will last another eight and a half. Best strimmer ever.

Replacement part exactly what was needed. Received it in 3 days. Previously ordered 4 years ago and once again perfect fit. Ordered two and got free postage.

I only gave it 3 stars because the component becomes badly worn on the line guides....poor component design.I purchased the replacement part in anticipation of the original part becoming too worn in the near future.

Perfect replacement for the Black & Decker GL687 Type 1 model strimmer. Fits as expected.You can expect to replace these units over a period of time, as the wire itself will eventually start to cut through the plastic over time, mostly cause when you hit obstacles causing the wire to be pulled against the holder. But to replace them is cheap enough over buying a new strimmer, and the GL687 is a pretty hardy unit (had it over 4 years now, and left outside in all weathers)

needed this for my old strimmer not many of them about now gives it a new lease of life .

Didn't expect to be replacing this but lesson learned don't loan it to friends, never mentioned till I went to use it, of course it was fine when retired.Luckily I can replace almost all of it, very happy.

Excellent replacement part for my heavy duty strimmer as the old one had worn inside the housing. Easier than having to pay for a new strimmer!
