This little device was all I needed. Worked (and still does) very well. I needed to see what the actual temperature of my grates were. Nice handy device.

Works like a charm! I leave it on the griddle all the time and lets me know when its time to cook with out guessing.

I need to know what the temperature of my griddle is quickly as I adjust the flames and not minutes later. This thermometer just does not react fast enough to changing griddle temperatures to be useful for me. I use the Etekcity 1022 Digital Laser Infrared Thermometer Temperature Gun Non-contact and it works instantly and is very accurate. This mechanical thermometer is probably more useful in a gas grill or oven where the temperature changes more slowly.

Unable to view readings merely after 3 times on the grill. Humidity and soot built up on inside of glass window rendering it useless.DO NOT BUY THIS - WASTE OF MONEY

I use these on my griddle all the time to check, and verify the temperature. A little more flimsy than the other units I purchased at restaurant supply stores. I used two the first time ( one old, one new ) to verify the accuracy, it was accurate within reason.
