AMAZING!
first off, the graphics are incredable, so many times i found myself goin "woahh" because of how good they are.secondly, the gameplay is as fun as ever, ploughing through chimera is imensley fun and the difficulty is perfect, not to easy the you just run through the levels without any tactics, but not so hard that your pinned down all the time.the multiplayer is great aswell, people complain that the co-op missions are the same as single player campaign, but this is equally as fun, the way that you pick from one of three classes adds real tactics to the game, as you need a balanced team, who works together the suceed.if you liked the 1st one buy itif you didnt like the first one i still recomend it

Probably not worth a look until it's in the bargain bin...
Resistance 2 is not a bad game, it is, sadly not a good game either.Resistance 2 shines quite well initially, picking up directly from where the previous game drops you off you end up in a chaotic Chimera attack on the base you were being taken to have been captured by a black-ops squad staggering around in the English countryside. The second level too, set 2 years later, suggest some interesting promise as you go about the evacuation of the base which houses your new unit, unfortunatly it is pretty much down hill from here.During the second level you encounter two scientists in the water screaming for help, so I jumped in, fully expecting this to be a scripted event, I was shredded in seconds by an unseen foe, as I sank below the water a bloody mess Resistance happily told me that Furies are deadly in the water. Apparently I had to die to find this out, and the pattern continues through-out the rest of the game, very often giving you little, or no advanced warning to how to do deal with this monster or that without a death, or seven.Resistance 2's difficulty curve is not based upon monster intelligence, clever level design, epic set pieces or challenging situations it can be boiled down several heavily outdated first person shooter design principles:1 - The player is clearly the highest threat even when at the back of the crowd of fellow soldiers and not shooting, run for him and try to kill him even if his teammates provide a more obvious threat. E.g. In one level you are surrounded by a large number of squad mates defending an AA gun, there must be 30 Chimera, they are all quite happy to shoot at your squad mates until you poke your head out, and even before you have fired a shot they have all turned to shoot at you.2 - There is nothing more challenging than creating numerous monsters that can kill him in 1 hit, and give him little or no warning about their existance. E.g. There are cloaked monsters that appear a few levels in, you see him once where he kills a soldier, if you don't react fast enough to their appearance you die, no second chances, instant death.3 - Create a sub-set of monsters that have a specific weakness that is incredibly hard to exploit because of point 1. E.g. I was stood minding my own business behind 10 squad mates and had 6 monsters run past them, down a corridor to shoot me in the face even though I had done absolutely nothing to tell them I was there or antagonize them, which is considerably different to the rest of my squad mates who were happily blasting away as I became their little pin cushion.1,2 and 3 do not make an enjoyable experience, certainly they make it more challenging but only by at the same time raising your frustration levels to fever-pitch in the process, when examing recent block-busters like Halo and Call of Duty 4 monster archetypes where more balanced, certainly there were invisible 1 hit kill monsters in Halo, but they were easier to spot, and quite frankly couldn't run nearly as fast as the invisible Chimera. Also they squad play right, Master Chief and the main characters you played in CoD 4 didn't have a magic bullseye painted on them, you gained it pretty quickly, but when you kick a door in and shoot dead 4 enemies his friends are going to quickly look to target you. This cannot be said of Resistance 2 where every monster knows where you are and prioritises you over everyone else.The level design was interesting, but not particularly inspired, in a true classic you are very often led around by the nose, but you don't always realise it, not so much in this little game, you find yourself butting into dead-ends and looking for your exit from this current room fairly regularly, if you're going to make each level a glorified tunnel, then at least make it feel to the player that they are making the choices as to where to go by enticing them to follow the path you want them to select, there are plenty of examples of games released over the past 15 years which succeed in doing this.Overall I am just disappointed by this title, it is filled with promise, but outdated and lazy game development techniques, lack luster level design, dull weapons lead to a pretty mediocre game. Frankly I'd suggest you purchase Call of Duty 5 over this title if you're looking for a new FPS for your PS3, unless of course you were a huge fan of the first one, because the very least you could say for this title is that it is a better game than that one.

AVERAGE & PREDICTABLE!
I'm sorry, but R:FOM was inovative and gave you a taste of what we could expect from the PS3. R:FOM2 plays on that popularity and Insomniac have produced a mediocre game at best, where they have pandered to all those whiney players who moaned about the game being too 'grey' (had they never heard of atmosphere - just look at "Alien" or "Bladerunner" & tell me they were too dark FGS! LOL), and we now have a game with gareish colours (especially in the multiplayer matches which look & play like Doom 2008 <g>).The AI in the solo campaign, even on the harder modes, is sadly predictable, meaning that there is less and less 'skill' needed to complete a level, especially if you play FPS games on a regular basis.I was really disappointed when it took me all of a couple of hours to rattle through this follow-up, and seeing the quality of the multi-player maps (especially when this was released within a few days of COD5:W@W), it hasn't drawn me back onto the PS3 to play it - far from it.Its looking like this could end up in the bargain bucket at my local games shop within a fortnight of buying it <sigh> The only real recommendation I could make for people considering buying this game, is to wait a couple of weeks, because there will be copies floating around, and it is a good entry-level FPS in my opinion.

r2 = halo 4?
It is a typical FPS game, co-op game is fun while you playing on line, better graphic than the first one, much sharper and detailed in game. However, to me, it is just another halo 4 bearing the resistance name, it is not resistance any more, i miss that brown war movie like back ground from the resistance 1. and also, the game charactors, compare to the first game, have no charactors at all, they are just random machines shooting chemira under computer coding orders. another thing, it is pity i can not play split-screen mode on story line, i bought this game actually for having fun with my housemates, but when we actually started the game and found out we can not to do so, that was really dispointting.the reason i give the game 4 stars, mainly because i really liked the first game, and that was the only reason i bought PS3, and i do like FPS rather than chopping and PE games.Dont get me wrong it is a good FPS game, worth to buy if you want to finish the story line from the first one and have some shooting fun, it is just not a perfect one, hopefully the 3rd one is better.
