I bought this low-tech meter to save me doing the dipstick thing. It's very easy to install and I calibrated (by adjusting the string's length) to my tanks depth of 1100 mm (110mm) and marking a ''Full'' line on the dial. It wont give you a spot-on-too-the litre/gallon accurate measurement but, it's more or less dead-on and it works extremely well with letting you know your tanks fuel level. A bit like those car petrol gauges that give you a full / three quarter/ half-full/ quarter/RED readout. For the price and if you don't have a requirement for electronic/ remote spot on accuracy, these wee jobbies are a very good buy.

Useful Tool but with No Nut to secure to tank

I like the fact you can take the Perspex cover off and adjust the reading to suit the depth of your tank. Our tank is 150cm deep so adjustment was required. Very simple to adjust just slide the backing numbers to suit and put Perspex cover back on. I got fed up with the ultrasonic oil tank level reader we had. I never trusted it to be correct and would use dip stick to see oil level. I have more faith in this manual type float gauge.

Mine arrived with liquid inside the float. So obviously a faulty item. It came via UPS but it was so much trouble trying to organise a return, I simply gave up and threw it in the bin.

Great value for this price. Highly recommended. Very simple installation, I was just cutting a suitable hole with a hole saw on the top of the cap, and screw in the gauge (it isn't coming with a lock nut or mine was missing) directly into the soft plastic cap. The zero level adjustment (besides, outside of the tank) was also very simple due to the little thread shortening hooks on the top of the ballast.
