I have spent many months looking into the right size and weight to make sewing pattern weights and just could not be sure how they would be without physically seeing them.I decided to take the plunge and buy some...currently Amazons recommendation is £15.99 (others are £20!) and although can seem a lot to pay for washers (my husband thinks I am crazy :) ) they actually work out at just 79p each and when you get them, you will see why they are the price they are...the bag of 20 is much heavier than I could have hoped.The pack of 20 weighs 3Ib 2oz...how good is that! :) Individually they weigh 2.5oz which is perfect for what I need them for and once I have decorated them, they may be a little heavier. I am so looking forward to decorating them and seeing just how lovely a piece of metal can be.I have included 2 images for size as I can never vision the measurements written in the description and as you can see, they are 5mm thick but just a fraction under 2 inches wide and I have sat one right in the centre of 4 one inch squares so you can see the fab size they are. Should you want them heavier, than you can double up but you really won't need to do this if using for pattern weights...they are more than substantial enough and now I have them I am so glad that I made the choice to buy them. I thoroughly recommend these...for paperweights. I hope to post images once I have had my fun in decorating them. :)

These washers are just what I needed. They are smooth and hold down my pattern pieces without being bulky. They are a great weight, and with so many of them they are very handy.

Great as sewing weights. Good value. Agree with other purchaser they will benefit from a wash in warm soapy water.

I glue these together in twos for use as pattern weights when dressmaking. They're good quality, inexpensive and do the job. What's not to like!

Great washers, used as dressmaking weights to keeping paper patterns in place, I have covered them in scraps of leather, and will be giving them as a christmas present to my daughter who i am teaching to sew

These washers are heavy and useful for all sorts of shapes in patterns. Just what I needed.

I love using these as sewing weights, they are a great size and shape and excellent value for money. My only criticism would be that they were grubby when they arrived and had I put them straight onto fabric it would have left a stain. I may be being slightly harsh as they cleaned up perfectly with a little soap and water but it is worth mentioning if you are buying these to use as sewing weights.

I can't understand why I didn't purchase these sooner. These are so much easier for dressmaking than trying to pin fiddly tissue paper-thin patterns to fabric. A must for every sewer's toolkit.
