Didn't hold vacuum for long and the vacuum pump quickly failed entirely.
Have their original discontinued model which requires pumping a few times/day to keep a vacuum on french roast whole beans; a pain but at least it still works. Tried this new uglier more cheaply made version and was deeply disappointed. The metal canister is thinner and the lip is narrower and I continually was frustrated pumping away only to discover it wasn't sealing properly. Had to play with it and hope it would seal and pump away until I was sure it wasn't getting a seal and try again. I finally tried adding food grade silicon to the gasket seal and that helped some for awhile. However the internal vacuum pump itself then died and it became totally useless. Very poor quality.

The seal holds with a very simple trick.
I had the same issue with it not holding the seal for very long, however, I figured it out. The one-way valve sometimes sticks in the open position, so all you have to do is pump it a few times prior to putting it on the can (hold lid in your hand)- when the air is flowing smoothly (with no resistance), place lid on and seal by pumping (you will feel the resistance increasing). Now it holds the seal for weeks and weeks. Not a defect, just a quirk that you need to know the trick for.

Basic purpose not possible. Seals break after few hours. Don't go to work...
Not sure if had received a defective unit or if product just doesn't work. Following all instructions seal releases within hours. Following trouble shooting instructions pumping and creating much stronger suction. Still resulted in fully unsealed within 6 hours. Tested in different temperatures, wondering if had sealed cold air then heated. Not the case or issue. Again if I have a defective product I apologize for poor review. But for me product has not done it's basic function. Coffee grounds, all have gotten stale. Personal experience never worked and huge waste of money and materials. Will try and repurpose container portion but very annoying to say the least.

Lasted about 11 months
This canister worked perfectly for about 11 months of 2-3 days a week use. Went to brush coffee from the rubber ring on the lid and then stopped sealing.

Doesn't stay sealed
Nicely made and look good, but pretty useless. They don't hold a vacuum for more than a few hours. I bought two of them and both are the same. I have another type that work well that are no longer available. I use to store coffee and teas. I would be fine if they could at least hold a vacuum for a few days.

Cheap seal
Seal broke after a couple uses

A clean seal, that’s the ticket…
The canister started working better after a few months and now it is working reliably. I think the gaskets have had time to conform to make a better seal and I wipe the rim each time before resealing. A clean seal seems to make a difference, at least, for coffee beans.

The seal leaks - don't buy it
I bought this can to hoping to keep my coffee beans fresh. Put the beans in, pumped it up until the pressure knob went down indicating a vacuum (about 40 pumps). The vacuum was gone after an hour. Tried again using varying numbers of pumps (30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100), each time the can lost vacuum within an hour. The only way I could get it to hold a vacuum (and this worked SOMETIMES), was to place a heavy book on the lid after I pumped it.
