20V MAX XR Cordless Ratchet, 3/8" and 1/2" Sealed Head Ratchet, Bare Tool Only (DCF510B)

As a "weekend warrior", doing my own work and turning wrenches on my own projects every week, this was a fantastic addition to my toolbox. In most cases, I won't use it for tightening bolts, simply because I don't want to overtighten smaller hardware and possibly strip or break anything, but it's my favorite tool for breaking bolts loose and removing them. It fits better in compact spaces than my 3/8'ths impact gun and still has PLENTY of speed to zip out small-medium sized bolts in crazy-fast time. And having a battery-powered wrench allows for MUCH better maneuverability around tight engine bays and lawnmower decks than any pneumatic wrench I've used does. It's got enough torque to break most non-seized bolts loose, plenty of speed, and the battery consumption is slow enough to allow a 4 AH battery to be used for months at a time, with once-per week usage without charging. The only thing I find odd on it is the selector switch directions. Every wrench I've ever used has an "on-off" direction indication. By that, I mean that if you switch the selector left, you change the direction of the wrench to "fasten" hardware, whereas if you switch it to the right, you change the direction to "loosen" hardware. This tool is the opposite. If you set the selector left, it will loosen your hardware. If you set it to the right, it will tighten hardware. It's an odd feature for a wrench to have, but that doesn't diminish its quality or functionality. I highly recommend this tool.

Been using it for a while now. Auto technician. Having the gone from older model to this one is a big difference. This one has sealed head which I like since I’m working on cars. The interchangeable head is also a nice touch. I haven’t used that feature that much but the 1 or 2 times I did need it made my life alot easier. The biggest improvement over the original is the sensor has gotten alot better at knowing when the head is at max tq and stopping. On the old one if you didn’t stop before the bolt you were screwing in bottomed out the ratchet would just keep going and your hand would go along with it. Lots of banged up knuckles till I finally learned how to control the trigger a bit better. This new one kills the power when it the head bottoms out. Now one annoying thing about this feture is rusted up threads and bolts can give it some issues where it gives a false sense of bottoming out when actually its just stuck on rust. But I’ve not run into this issues too much and the few times I have I just use my impact gun. Overall this is worth the purchase whether you own the older one already or if your new to electric ratchets. The only reason to buy the Milwaukee version is if your already into the batteries.

Dewalt tools hold up to expectations

Because my home studio shares space with my garage corner, I grabbed this DeWALT cordless ratchet to tweak my drafting table base and work on my car. The sealed head feels tough and the trigger is smooth. I really like the little LED, I crawl under the dash and that light actually saves me from juggling a separate flashlight 🔦. Power is good for most bolts on my desk frame and brake brackets. What bugged me a bit is the head size and weight. In tighter spots around the seat rails it feels bulky and my wrist gets tired faster. For quick jobs it works well, but i still keep a slimmer hand ratchet nearby.

I bought this for DIY car fixing. I like that you can change the bit sizes between 3/8 and 1/2, but ngl this is a lot weaker than I was expecting. It has rating to go to 75ft/lbs, but that's definitely not real world. For instance, a lot of brakes calipers are held down at around 35-40lbs and even when I tighten it to that and then use this to initiate, it will fail. I think this is probably great for the little bolts that are around, but you still will need an impact hammer that can handle the initiate untorqueing. The build quality thought is fantastic. It just feels like so much better than the offbrand labels. Comparing it to the major brands, it feels very much the same. Overall, I'd recommend buying this if you do a lot of garage work but just remember that you probably still need a better impact or breaker bar.

I don't know why I didn't buy this sooner but it would have saved me a lot of hassle. Well I do know why... The price... But I gota say it's worth it for sure. Being able to zip out bolts without lugging around an air hose and getting caught on everything is so nice. It's plenty powerful enough to use for what a electric rachet should be used for. It's not an impact so don't expect to be breaking big old rusty 30mm nuts loose with the motor alone. Its made to zip on or off nuts and bolts once they are broken loose. Unless you are in a shop setting and working on vehicles all day long, then this is the way to go. If you do work in a shop all day then it makes more sense to stick with air just because of the whole battery thing but for the average weekend warrior or a mobile mechanic or addition to air tools this thing is amazing to have around.
