POWERBREATHE Plus Breathing Training Device, Black - Heavy Resistance

Having used the standard Ultrabreathe for several years and given them to family and friends, I was especially satisfied with my purchase until the plastic ball inside the unit started to degrade due to wear and tear, making me worried about microplastics entering my lungs. I bought this upgraded unit as I read it used a rubber gasket as a valve instead of a plastic ball - potentially making it a safer option to use. Unfortunately, the design is inherently flawed: once you pass 2.5 on the resistance marker, the gasket reaches its maximum resistance level due to how the unit is made. Dialing the resistance up to 10 holds the gasket down with the same force as 2.5, 3, 4, etc... Ultimately, it still functions as a fantastic lung exerciser, but the option of a truly variable resistance lets it down overall.

Instructions written in Spanish, so had to YouTube how to use it correctly. English instructions emailed the following day from vendor.

good resistance. easy to clean. however, the rubber mouthpiece may induce gagging; i prefer to use the item without it

Ridiculously big. Too many parts. Moisture gets trapped for this reason. Not hygienic. Cleaning is a pain. They could easily have made this small, easier to clean, better looking and less likely to trap moisture. Disappointing considering it’s very expensive. Happy to pay the price of the product is right but this ain’t it.

Ho iniziato ad usare il POWERbreathe Plus Black Edition Competición come parte del mio allenamento respiratorio (dato il mio interesse per migliorare la respirazione basale) e dopo qualche settimana posso affermare che fa la differenza. 🔹 Qualità costruttiva e regolazione Il dispositivo appare ben costruito, con materiali solidi e un’estetica professionale in nero. La resistenza è regolabile su diversi livelli (da circa 29 cmH₂O fino a 274 cmH₂O) per adattarsi a utenti motivati o atleti.  È facile da regolare e maneggiare: la manopola è semplice da usare e la pinza nasale inclusa è un plus utile. 🔹 Prestazioni effettive Dopo circa 10-14 giorni di utilizzo regolare (due sessioni al giorno, 30 inspirazioni ciascuna) ho percepito un miglioramento: sentirsi più “solido” nel respiro, affaticamento respiratorio durante sforzi moderati diminuito e maggior capacità di controllo. Le istruzioni indicano che già dopo poche settimane si possono vedere benefici.  In particolare ho trovato utile l’uso nei giorni in cui corro — la sensazione di “respiro più pieno” mi ha aiutato a mantenere un ritmo più costante. 🔹 Considerazioni finali In sintesi: sì, funziona. È uno strumento che richiede costanza (non basta una sola sessione), ma per chi è motivato e vuole potenziare la muscolatura inspiratoria è un acquisto valido. Se sei come me, interessato a migliorare la respirazione basale o le performance cardio-respiratorie, lo consiglio. Unica precisazione: non è economico, e per uso occasionale forse si può avere un buon risultato anche con alternative meno “pro”. ✅ Pro: • Regolazione ampia di resistenza → adatto anche a utenti avanzati • Build solida e design curato • Effetto reale sul respiro e sulla fatica inspiratoria ❌ Contro: • Richiede impegno e costanza per vedere risultati • Prezzo elevato rispetto a dispositivi più semplici • Per i principianti assoluti potrebbe essere “troppo” se non si inizia dai modelli più leggeri
