The product comes in the form of a very fine charcoal looking powder. It looks pretty scary when you apply, like a grey ghost and it was quite hard to remove, stuck to the skin quite stubbornly. You need to mix it with water and rub in between your hands to a paste. I found it a little hard to get the consistency just right, not enough water and it’s sticky, dry and hard to rub around the skin and too wet, it just runs through your finger and dribbled down the face. Having said all that, after a bit of experimenting, the results of the exfoliated left my skin very smooth, soft and glowing. After a few uses I really feel a bit difference in the texture of my skin and it has reduced my pores too which is a great result.

I love Dermalogica, I love their rice exfoliant, and I love trying a new product! I saw this charcoal version instead and thought 'Yes, let's give this a crack!' But nah, not for me. It didn't leave me with the glow and clean feeling the rice one did, and it also broke me out a little. Of course, products are different for everyone and I don't regret trying it (after two weeks using it a few a week I knew it wasn't for me so offloaded it to my sister who likes it), but it's the inferior cousin to the original rice microfoliant in the white packaging for me!

Definitely "scours" your face and gets rid of dead skin cells. My face is always soft and smooth after using and make up glides on better. One of my favourite, basic, must-have beauty products for regular skin care. Last a good while, too!
