A good home/office printer
This was bought to replace an old Samsung laser printer. It was easy to set up with a wireless connection and works well with both Windows and Linux, and is a fair bit lighter than what it replaced. I am not a heavy user but for me print quality is good for printing double sided reports in colour on an occasional basis. I am happy with it as a first time Brother user.

Great Home printer
Love the double sided printing, deep sleep mode wakes up on printing so no need to turn it on and off, refills look good as black can be replaced on its own. Full driver download makes easy to install.

Arrived ahead of schedule, no difficulty setting up, also easy to link with app on phone... fast printing... good quality printing...good value printer...got on offer...sits neatly on work bench...noise level low...

Don't update firmware via mobile app
Decent replacement for my decade old Dell, but initial setup was a disaster. Do not, under any circumstances, update the firmware from the mobile app. It didn't work and left me with a mess attempting to recover. Also worthy of note is that the PC firmware update/recovery tool only works via USB and not over the network. Print quality is good, and it's decently quick. For the price, I'm pleased and it isn't HP which is always good.

Works with Fedora Linux 41 and Linux Mint 22
A really nice printer and easy to set up. I was a little concerned as I only run Linux (Fedora 41 and Mint 22) however, once I had allocated a static ip for the printer from my router (not essential but makes troubleshooting easier) Mint and Fedora both found the printer in the "Network Printer List" and I could print a Test Page. I can also print from Android devices via the app. There is an option to connect via a USB lead (which is not supplied) however I dont know why you would do this as there is also a wired network port on the back. The driver for USB printing is on the Brother website with deb and rpm versions available including a guide. All in all a great Linux printing experience .

Useless.
Totally useless. I bought this to print labels and you have to manually feed them 1 page at a time. It hasn't nearly everytime and takes incredibly long to print. On regular paper it always curls the corners and for some reason it doesn't print the transparent PNG parts as White, it prints them as grey, totally messing up what I'm printing. Overall it's useless. A complete pain to setup too, how is my 15 year old brother printer better than this? Update: this machine has now stopped being able to print pictures in pdfs. All I get is an insufficient memory error, I've tried to uninstall and reinstall drivers but nothing fixes it. Thankfully it still works with word documents. But no doubt this things a lemon. Also the refils on the ink is horrendously expensive even the 3rd party ones because of the system they used.

Great quality and ease of use
Brother make the best printers in my view. We had a brother black and white laser for years. This is an upgrade for the kids homework. Easy to set up and good quality. Toner is a reasonable price too

Well I didn’t expect it to be this good!
Amazing for Macs and iPhones - no installation of anything required, it literally just works. Probably good with others but I’ve not tried. I particularly like the email to print function as I can literally email a file directly to the printer and will be sat there ready when I arrive having used the default settings I entered. Seriously good functionality and quality for the price.
