Sharp, smooth and beautiful!
I bought this knife as I’m a keen foodie and love cooking. Comes in a beautiful presentation box and has lovely details such as the embossed logo on the blade and the copper pin rivet in the handle. The hammered finish is not just for show but helps to reduce the force required when cutting and stops food sticking to the blade. It proves that just because something is functional doesn’t mean it can’t be beautiful too.The knife blade is large but well balanced so is comfortable to use and not overly heavy. Because it is super sharp you don’t need to use as much force as with a blunt knife. I’ve tried it on lots of different ingredients and can’t believe how smoothly it cuts - root vegetables, meats, cabbage, onions and peppers, it goes through them all like the proverbial hot knife through butter! I have no doubt that it will handle a meat carcass with ease. The protective sheath is a great idea to keep the knife in good condition but also has a good safety feature with the retaining pin. One thing is for sure, I will be looking after this knife and not throwing it in the sink, dishwasher or utensils drawer. Beautiful product.

Use this for anything!
Well this isn't my first Dalstrong knife but if your chef's ego needs scratching this one is just for you! It's makes any 8" chefs knife look sad and underdeveloped :) (picture to compare next to 8" knife). But seriously, it's super versatile, it's not a miracle - you have to sharpen it but it takes and holds a very nice edge. I has a hefty weight which helps as it uses its own weight to cut. Bigger and tougher things like pumpkins and watermelons are a dream to cut, so is anything else. Don't forget that Dalstrong customer service is always behind you should a problem accurs. Just in case you are hesitating between this and the similar Zelite - make no mistake this is way, way better, proper quality knife.

It's huge but that's exactly the point.
It's a beautiful knife, probably too long for general use, but whoever needs a 10" knife has a very good option here.I have the 9,5" shogun, dalstrong kindly replaced it after the tip of previous one I had snapped off. Even if it was a minor damage. They replied to my email within less than 24 hours, and after showing some pictures and explaining what happened they placed an order and delivered a new knife. It might be the only knife brand that I know to be so close with the customers.

The hype is real, sign me up!
I believe this is the first UK product review for this knife. So I will divide my opinions into sections:Aesthetics: 5/5 - Dalstrong's Tsunami rose and tsuchime finish is exceptional. As seen in the photographs the design is crisp, clear and full of subtle character.Sharpness: 4/5 - The knife is clearly very sharp, see the short video clips for yourself to see how is fares against paper. Apologies for the poor cutting skills, I’m not used to recording and slicing at the same time! This knife is not quite razor sharp, i.e it doesn’t shave hairs. My only assumption for this is that the Sheath has dulled the knife slightly during transportation due to the slack. However, it definitely has the potential to become razor sharp with minimum effort.Weight: 5/5 - My initial concern before buying this knife is that it would be too large to be used with any dexterity and that the center of mass would be in an undesirable place. However, as seen in the photograph, the centre of mass is perfect for the pinch grip. Thus it is not at all unwieldy.Final opinions: I will admit, I am a home cook, and certainly a very valid argument would be why spend this much money on a knife? To which I would respond:This is great value for money, clearly a lot of attention to detail, time, care and research has gone into making this knife. It is as much a personal statement about yourself and to your guests, as it is practical. I would argue this rivals other brands such as Shun, but at a fraction of the price point. Finally, it will stand the test of time, should you treat it with the respect it deserves.

An amazing knife
I bought this knife fir my son who is a professional chef . He said ‘ This is an amazing, very hard wearing knife. I hadn’t heard great stuff about knives made in China but after getting one myself and using it as a professional chef all day, I really am impressed. It is the best knife I’ve ever had . It’s got a really nice weight to it and hasn’t chipped like other more expensive knives I’ve had in the past’ .

Quality product
Beautifully designed knife. After years of using sub standard kitchen knives I’ve finally found a brand that does the job. Whilst this is probably the largest knife in their excellent range, it remains agile and easy to handle. would def recommend for larger tasks. This comfortably had a chicken in half with ease!!
