Definitely two separate trays and not a tray and lid. They actually nest together really well when storing. You will want to use a cutting board or something similar to transfer to the freezer but the flexibility is well worth it when it comes time to get the bars out of the tray.

Ice trays should be simple. Simple to use, simple to clean, simple to carry, but nothing about this is simple. Its silicone materials make it flimsy, to put it mildly. I filled it up and tried to pick it up and the water immediately fell out, making a huge mess. Once the water in it was frozen, it was halfway decent to work with, move, etc., but getting it to that point was the issue. Overall, it was NOT worth the expense. I wouldn't take it if it were free. Mine are currently collecting dust in the back of my silverware drawer, as it's just too flimsy to carry without making a mess.

These rubber ice cube trays are make the perfect sized cubes for water bottles and soda cans. The cubes pop out without the struggle of trying to crake a hard tray. Pleased with this purchase.

So I read the reviews that said these were too flimsy. There is just no way one person can hold, fill and then be able to carry the "tray", open the freezer door and put it inside. However, I already had a plan. I cut the thing in half. Yes, its still flimsy, but by cutting it in half, I am able to fill it and get it into the freezer without needing a second pair of hands. They cut easily with a regular pair of scissors.

I bought these to use for my BLW journey because they make the perfect shape for my baby to be able to hold things I cook in them. They work great cooking things in them in the oven. They are very flexible so be careful when placing things into the oven or freezer. If you do food in them make sure to spray plenty of non-stick spray because food sticks really bad. Don't waste your money. Who ever thought of making an ice cube tray that you fill with water out of such a flimsy jelly material. You spill water everywhere and have tint ice cubes because you couldn't fill it properly. Forget opening the freezer to put it in when both hands need to be holding the ridiculous ice cube tray. Waste of money.

These are easy to fill using a measuring cup and the ice tubes pop out very easily.
