how hot does the outside get? If you microwave and water is super hot, can you gra b outside of the mug with bare hands?

depends how long you nuke it; i use them for canned soup, nuke till too hot to drink and i can hold the mug just fine;

Any recommended lid for it?

Lids off of the deli containers fit perfect

I've never weighed it, however, being that it holds 3 servings of coffee, (24oz with room for sweeteners and cream), as apposed to 1 in a regular mug ... my guess is 2 to 2.5 times a regular mug's weight. It's a great mug.
