OPM Optical Power Meter Digital Tester -70~6dBm with 6 Optic Wave Length, Portable Fiber Optic Cable Tester with FC Converter for FC/SC/ST

I bought 10 of these for my team, they are the best ones we've bought out of 5 brands. They are very easy to use, compact and ready to store, and the screens are wonderfully easy to read. I will be purchasing more in the future.

I design and deploy optical networks for a living, and for most of my implementations I don't actually need precision, I just need to really know if light is present and a rough power reading within +/- 5 dBm. I have to pack up all of my tools and equipment and carry them into colocation datacenters where my equipment is installed, so the smaller each device is, the better for my use case. This OPM is nice and compact and is almost exactly what I was looking for. The only thing that it really needs, which isn't unique to this OPM, is to at least have an option for 1.25 mm ferrules versus 2.5 mm. The world moved to LC connectors a long time ago, having to use LC to FC adapters on optical test equipment is frustrating... it's one more thing to lose.

Does the job.

This little meter is great to have in your bag as it provides a general idea of your situation. However, it tends to give very inaccurate results near the extremes. For instance, it was reading +10.5 dbm as +3.5dbm (the meter's specifications state that it supports +6dbm to -70dbm). I would have trusted this device more and rated it higher if it showed an error when its limits were exceeded.

I ordered a different optical light checker from somebody else on Amazon, and they kept sending me the wrong product. So I decided to pay the extra money and order from here, and I am very happy with this product. It's accurate and easy to use. And it's the right device I ordered.

power button getting pressed too easily in the pocket, risking running down the battery. other than that no issues, very helpful

Can carry in my shirt pocket, runs on AAA batteries, just a nice tool for simply checking light levels that weighs nothing!

I been using this for a few weeks now and I love it. Way better than carrying my Viavi or Exfo OTDR when I just need to get the levels real quick. The levels seem pretty accurate, It turns on and off fast and I never change the batteries yet. Also good for giving to a new guy when you have alot of levels to get and not have to worry about damaging your good meters or OTDR or forgetting it somewhere lol. Im ording a few more.
