part two of a fast-paced trilogy on crime, corruption and community fightback
The second in a promised three-part story about the impact of organised crime and state corruption on working class communities in Britain and beyond. Author Martin Baker holds the reader's attention from the off with a finely-crafted tale full of three-dimensional characters, thrilling plot lines and a superb denoument. The book has a fantastic sense of place covering large parts of the UK and Europe, great historical knowledge and the ability to make the story of what has happened to local government since the 1980s essential reading for anyone with a background in politics, construction, high finance, community development or just a love of well-told crime thriller. highly recommended. can't wait for part 3 and a shout out to any script writers out there - this could be the new Line of Duty meets Breaking Bad/Ozarks and Yes Minister. Funny, exciting, satisfying - go on, treat yourselves. Start with the prequel Backtracking and progress to this. can't wait for part 3.

Fast paced Fast-tracking!
Loved this book! The plot moved at a fast pace throughout with lots of twists and turns along the way. The author’s attention to detail is astounding. The various storylines are cleverly woven together into an exciting finale. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

What a cracker
I have enjoyed Fast-tracking so very much. Characters I met, and loved, in the first book, Back Tracking, appear again in this novel. Their complexities and human frailties bring them to life and I found myself invested in them yet again in this fast moving and exciting second novel. I also met new characters some of whom are equally interesting and have joined the list of those I enjoy meeting. There are too, of course, new characters who are thoroughly unpleasant or downright evil which brings an honesty and balance to the story. The author has achieved an exciting and thought provoking novel taking me to many situations and locations and I, for one, can’t wait for book 3. The author leaves you wanting more and I hope the wait is not too long.

Excellent read
I was excited when Martin asked about using my name for a characterThe wait for publication was well worth it. I loved the book and my character. The story as always was edge of the seat and to use a cliche, a real page turner. It's taken a while to write this as my initial versions were not fit for publication, I was too over excited and used too many naughty words.I have recommended this book to many people not because of my character but because it really is well written. You are drawn into it and can visual the characters. Also some of the areas are well known to me and alot of my friends which is a bonus.I think you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Excellent story.
What a great read. Entertaining and well constructed writing. Very interesting particularly with the research that must have gone intothe ever changing story line. It is always pleasing when an author has a second novel that proves better than the first novel. Can’t wait for the next editionWell done, gave me so much entertainment.Bob.
