I needed to improve the traction on a pair of steps on a lightweight 3-step ladder that I use frequently when washing my truck. The bare aluminum steps always seemed extra slippery when stepping down. I tried out the Lifegrip Anti-Slip Traction Tape (2" wide) - the surface is definitely sandpaper-like, close to 120 grit, which is perfect for my use, but the adhesive didn't seem very tacky - edit Dec 8, 2025 - I've found that this traction tapes adhesion is still holding exceptionally well after getting wet several times over during a SUV wash and hit a few times with a pressure washer. I was wrong; the adhesion appears to withstand a good beating. This is what I did to prep the surface area to give it every chance to adhere at its best: I cleaned all of the surfaces where I was going to appy the traction tape with isopropyl alcohol (90%), then I broke out my heat gun and heated the surface prior to applying the tape. Once I laid down the tape, I used a 2" rubber roller to apply even pressure throughout the contact areas and using the heat gun along the areas I rolled. For the plastic top step, I did the same, but I also applied a thin layer of 3M adhesion promoter. The results came out as expected and after a week of use with some water overspray, the tape is still adhering, even at the corners. I was able to press the traction tape into the crevice areas of the top step (see photos) - the roller definitely helped with this and the tape still holds its adhesion to those uneven surfaces. I think this is a win and definitely worth its modest price.

Needed better traction on the basement stairs for the dog. After a few coats of paint, installed the 8” version. Looks great. Adhesive is really good. I used a heat gun and roller to make sure it would really adhere.

I tested a few different applications knowing I had to remove either the rounded edge one or the square one. The square one won! Small one, applied directly to unfinished plywood surface, which was really hard to remove and took a chunk of plywood with it! The larger one was finished with an eco friendly oil (food safe oil) before applying the tape and still was difficult to remove it also removed plywood fibers! The anti-slip grip is excellent also! Daily use and holding up great!

Good product sticks well easy to cut but with moderate wear fades easily and breaks needs to be replaced every 6 months

Cut to desired length, easy to fasten to wood. These have worked great when snow or ice forms on our porch, preventing a slip or fall.

Every time someone comes over it’s a joke on how slick our porch gets. I finally caved and decided to get this tape after my husband and I had fallen on MANY occasions on this porch, one even our cameras recorded and ended up on America’s funniest videos. This tape is wonderful and so easy to apply!! After it’s snowed and rained it worked so well.

Ok for general use but once it touches water, it dissolves

You always wonder with a product like this if it will stick good enough. It is always the tell tail sign of high quality. I can honestly say this is high quality.

I can't speak for complete durability as I am using them only indoors. But the grip really works. I no longer have to worry about people sliding down the stairs.
