Durability in a lightweight package
What I love the most about this jacket is it's durability. I've had it snag on multiple things, have had sharp objects poke it, and have worn it in all weather conditions. As a lightweight jacket it's perfect. It holds up well to repel the harmful UV rays whilst allowing you to breathe. I would recommend it down to 45°F weather, but then again I love colder climates. The two side pockets can be zipped up partially so things don't slip out. The chest pocket is fairly big and the velcro is great. I don't really like the internal pockets since they have an opening (found that out the hard way). I've had this jacket and have worn it nearly every single day for a year and nearly 2 months and it just now has some wear and tear. It has a small gash around the torso and the main zipper has come off slightly. But for all the time I've had it and what I've put it through it's well worth the money. As for the size it runs slightly big, but I prefer loose clothing anyway.

Great Cover Jacket
I love these jackets! It is paper thin so don’t think you’re going to get any warmth out of it. I use it as a cover jacket from Spring to Fall, and it is perfect. If I had to pick on one thing it would be that the sleeves are a little baggy, but this is my second one so that shows how worried I am about that. I have an older black one and I can see a few minor upgrades to this newer one like better zipper pulls and better elastic cuffs. The green is a dark OD type color that is very nice. I am on the shorter side...5’ 6” and the medium works perfect for me. I will continue to buy these jackets as long as they are making them.

All in all and good light jacket to keep the wind off and keep you dry in a light rain.
I only give this product 4 stars because I really haven't gotten to use it much. So here's my initial review. Fit is what I'd hoped for, a little loose to allow it to be worn over a thick sweatshirt or something if you need added warmth. It's light, but feels much more durable and well made than I expected. I was expecting something almost paper like, but it feels more like parachute material and very comfortable. I bought it as a packable jacket to keep dry in a light/medium rain and keep my phone and pistol dry. In a downpour, I doubt it would hold up long though. So just in case I ever get caught out in a heavier rain, I plan to keep a couple ziploc bags in the pockets for my wallet, phone and pistol. They won't add any noticeable weight or bulk to the jacket, it'll still pack into itself and form a pouch. So far I really like this jacket. It seems durable and looks pretty good too. Reminds me of the windbreakers I used to have when I was a kid. Makes a decent travel pillow when folding into it's pouch and can be compressed to a little larger than a soda can.

Extremely light weight fabric. Way too light for a patrol jacket.
This is a simple nylon windbreaker. Nothing more. It's made of that ultra light taffeta stuff, not ripstop or ballistic cloth like a backpack or a heavier jacket. I wouldn't wear it as a patrol jacket. It's way too light. Sew a patch on the jacket and the patch will weigh down that side of the garment. It's THAT lightweight. No badge tab, no holster slot, funky inside "pockets" that have open ends so they won't hold anything. What's up with that? 511 mounted what they call "mic loops" near the shoulders. The loop is not big enough for some of the mic's I've used. Plus clipping a mic onto this super light jacket would weight down that side of the jacket, like the patch concept above.Bottom line, it's a simple windbreaker. Trying to market it as some kind of uniform jacket is a stretch.

Light, comfortable, durable
I live in a part of the country that doesn't usually get bone chilling cold so the 5.11 Packable Jacket is perfect for most cool spring and fall days. The jacket is light and comfortable. It is well made and durable; the one I had before ordering this one was still going strong after 5 years. I would still be wearing it but someone apparently needed a jacket and took it. Like the other 5.11 products I use, the jacket is well built. The 5.11 packable jacket is, as the name suggests, very compact. It can be packed into one of its pockets which works well for tucking it into a corner of a suitcase or my hiking pack. It is water resistant enough to get from the truck to the house or for a quick jaunt to the mailbox in a mild shower. The chest pocket is handy for cell phone storage and the microphone hanger loops are useful for hanging my reading glasses when wearing my sun glasses.

5.11 Packable Jacket (Unlined)
This is an interesting product, it is light-weight and fairly portable. This is the unlined jacket so don't expect warmth retention but it does keep the rain out, not a deluge mind you but light to medium rainfall. The "hidden 5.11 pocket" is not very sturdy on the right side so it can only be accessed easily with your left hand. It can hold EDC items just don't expect to carry a gun inside. I would not carry heavy items in this pocket as the jacket billows and heavy items sag and imprint horribly. Because the jacket billows I would use this jacket as a cover for concealed carry on my waist or shoulder rig in warmer climates. Also I have long arms and usually have to get the tall or over-sized jacked but this jacket's sleeves are a bit too long and the wrists don't taper so you have all this extra fabric hanging down. The jacket inverts into one of its pockets and zips closed. The packed jacket is about 10in square however it is thick and puffs out about 3in but it can be squashed flatter. Overall this is a good addition to carry in a bag or car, but not in a cargo pocket as it will bulge and flop about horribly.

Good for hot weather
I needed something to cover up during summer months without sweating it out. This is very lightweight, comfortable and compact. Keep in mind if you place anything in the pockets ie keys, wallet, etc.. the jacket will shift or lean to that area since its so light.

best windbreaker out there...
This is the second one of these I have owned... First one lasted more than a decade and then I lost it. Broke my heart - it was my favorite jacket - so I bought a new one. As an outer layer I even wear it in the winter. Although it is water resistant, it will get wet in an absolute downpour, but dries in a heartbeat. As a wind shield it keeps the wind out while your inner layer stays warm. Love this jacket.

Very handy as a light rain coat.
This is a useful little coat as if folds away nicely and is very water proof in moderate rain showers. Also it has a slight insulating feature which keep you warm if the weather is cold. 5.11 are a great company and produce highly featured and practical clothng and equipment for milatary, industrial and civil usage. I recommend this jacket.
