Magnificent little machine
Brought this to replace a Samsung Jet bot and the difference is night and day. At full whack on wooden floors, the Samsung is painful: you can even hear it outside the house. Samsung logic isn't much better, it would roam for a few minutes before declaring the room clean. To be fair to Samsung, it usually presented a full bin after a few days, but you had to coax it so much that it eventually became quicker to clear up by hand. The Homerun? Flawless. At its loudest it sounds like someone downstairs is doing the cleaning: even my terrier gets on with it, going so far as to try and feed it from time to time. The logic is excellent - you need to place the base station on each floor you plan to map, but only once. Let it run and it returns a half hour later with the proof of its hard work. The mopping action is good, and dries quickly. If I had one gripe it's that very thin rugs get confused with mats, so mark it on the app as no-mop or it may try to give your Turkish rug a bit of a light wash (nothing damaging at all if you're wondering, but not something to encourage).Downside? No voice integration, only the app. I'm hoping they'll add it to Google Home but for now it does well enough to clean that I don't begrudge a penny of the investment, not one bit.

Initially impressed, but left underwhelmed
Easy to use device with a poor app.We had this hoover for over a month before requesting manufacture assistance as it was sucking anything up at all. Philips were very quick to assist, but ultimately ended up refunding me as they couldn’t get a replacement. We’ve gone for a competitors device, which is meeting expectations. That said, this hoover has a very good battery life, a useful list of functions and abilities, is good value for money (given the auto empty and mopping functions) and the mapping worked really well.

Well made, but defeated by a rug
This extremely well equipped robot vacuum cleaner really looks the part, with sleek looks a nice subtle colour scheme. It's solid and extremely well made, with every part fitting together cleanly. The charging station is also good looking and well made, and fits well into my place. The robot took about 20 minutes to set up, with the accompanying app being relatively well designed, though quite slow at times, particularly when trying to label rooms. Generally it is pretty good though, and works well to communicate and organise your cleaning schedule, with loads of really useful options.Sadly, during setup is when I hit my first and sadly the terminal issue for this machine. It refused, completely, to mount and drive over a large rug which is in the centre of my living room. It's a thick rug, but less than the mounting height specified in the manual. Rather than drive over it, the robot just repeatedly detected obstacles and drove around in circles. The worst part is that at times, it happily just drove a couple of feet before resuming the same pattern of (presumably) detecting an obstacle and backing up.This issue basically makes it completely useless for cleaning this room, and considering all the options in the app, one of them is not "drive over this relatively normal rug". I would be more sympathetic, but the robot vacuum that this unit replaced was able to clean this room (and the rug) with ease.Robot vacuums are not a new thing any more, and neither are rugs. In 2023 this product is not good enough, and is outperformed by it's predecessor, a Neato Robotics D7, which cost less than half the price. Does that product mop and empty itself? No, but it does clean my living room, something this one cannot do.Besides the main issue I have with this product, it does not compare well to my previous unit in some other ways too. Firstly, the vacuum brush is about half the size, and the spinning arms do not really do enough to pull in items from the carpeted parts of my home. It really feels like this unit is really designed for homes with little to no carpet. The dust bin is also remarkably small by comparison. This is mitigated by the self emptying capability, but leaves anyone using the basic charging station having to empty the dust compartment much more frequently. Finally, the self emptying feature requires the use of single use bags, so although it's very clean to empty, you are stuck buying bags forever. There's a lot to like about this cleaner, but it fails to complete it's core function, and for that reason, 2 stars is being generous. A real shame, and hopefully something which can be fixed via software. Until then, I cannot possibly recommend this product, particularly if you have a rug.
