I needed to copy my minidv recordings of some shows I was in and then share them with friends. This device was cheap and so so easy to use. Literally plug and play. Just downloaded the free open source software recommended in the manual. Extremely happy with my purchase.

found some old Camcorder tapes and this has meant that I can download them digitally - brilliant

Video conversion seems absolutely fine. Audio codec is Mono (on PC and Mac) but the specification is stereo. No real excuse for that.

Worked perfectly to digitize a bunch of old VHS tapes. For anyone reading, I used OBS, and had to play around with resolution and framerate settings to get it to record properly (720x576 or 720x480, and 29.97 NTSC).

Handles great. Was able to record old HI8 tapes from a camcorder directly to my macbook air using OBS. It connected very well. I just wish it had USB C or other adapters (HDMI) as well. No noise or heat being generated from the capture card itself. Solid performance for the price. Definitely do recommend.
