Timex Men's X Pan Am Chronograph 42mm Watch

Timex has done it again with a solid tribute watch! The styling on this is really cool, down to the second hand’s aviation theme. The dial is in keeping with a pilot’s watch and the case features both brushed and polished elements. The crown has a jewel shape and has the Pan-Am logo engraved on it, which is also a nice touch. The strap has metal Pan-Am logos as well, which really stand out and add additional character to the piece. The underside of the strap is a nice blue color, another nod to the airline. The caseback features an etched Pan-Am logo and styling reminiscent of a jet engine’s turbofan. The airline theme runs throughout and the styling makes this a great collector’s piece, whether you are an aviation enthusiast or are drawn to nostalgia for the earlier days of commercial air travel. The case size is respectable but not overly large. The only drawback is how it fits on the wrist. The strap is fairly rigid due to the spaces where the logos are being rather firm. As such, it is not as comfortable as other watches, though perhaps the strap will soften with additional wear. Not a huge problem, but would have led me to assign 4.5 stars if I could. Overall, this is a fine tribute piece and a great addition to my collection. Timex has a long history of quality watches that are affordable and durable. I expect the same from this one as well.

BLUF: Great watch, well made, and comfortable to wear with a quick break-in on the band. The watch is a quality, well made watch and a pretty cool collaboration with Pan Am for those of us who remember flying internationally on that airline. The lug side of the band was super uncomfortable out of the box, but was easily remedied. I took the band off of the watch and simply rolled the thick lug side of the band on my desk, rolled back and forth, to loosen up that thick chunk of leather. Put the band back on, and it was a night and day difference. Very comfortable without taking days to break in otherwise. As a life long red blooded American male, I've grown up not reading directions or asking directions, but I digress ... not looking at any instructions, I found the watch very easy to set and use. The dial is awesome and I don't mind the mineral crystal others seem to complain about ... all-in-all, a quality collaboration that is just stunning on the wrist. Very happy I added it to my collection and daily rotation. Very highly recommended, thank you Timex!
