I suspect it is as it recommends cleaning brushes after use with a proprietary brush cleaner rather than water

Could clean of mould in a corner of a ceiling and then use the paint - would it sop the mould in that area

I think 2 coats of stain stop would cover the stain once you had cleaned the mould off. If you clean it with a diluted bleach solution that should help kill off the mould spores.

When I used this it was like water!! Really thin..... is this faulty?

It does appear thin but covers well, maybe give the tin a good shake before using. It says one coat but that depends on the type of stain.

Would you recommend applying with a brush or roller please?

I used a brush as area was small, don’t see a problem using a small roller though.
