An excellent brief history covering the known and the unknown in a very readable and interesting format. Very well worth a read for the informed and the uninformed.

Captivating and heartwarming

Short and easy to read. But gives a very good high level overview of the history of Italy.

This book delves deep into the rich history of Italy, showcasing its significant influence in Europe and the world. It covers early civilisations, through to the Romans, the Renaissance and WWII. Its not to the same standard as Max Hastings and Kindle price looks a bit high too, but it is an interesting book for those that want a potted history of Italy. Interesting and quick to read.

A great brief insight to the history, ideal as a starter point for future research.

Bit dull and lifeless.

The briefest of brief histories. If you want to read a timeline of events you’d genuinely be better off with Wikipedia’s History of Italy page. This book is a collation of encyclopaedia entries (look at the reference section of which the majority of entries are for Encyclopaedia Brittanica), half-heartedly strung together by vague reasoning and repetitive language.Is this written by AI as another reviewer suggested? Who is Dominic Haynes? Who knows, his Amazon profile is just as informative as this book.

Book so thin..my husband only reads factual books..and this fitted the brief …but when it arrived it was so thin,it will take him no time to read the facts it contains whether they are written well or not. Max Hastings,one of his preferred authors, produces books of a similar price, which are ,extremely well written and researched with plenty of photos included, his books contain three times the quantity of pages as this book, which is printed in very large print to takes up more pages than it really needs. Very poor value regardless of the material contained,which my husband has yet to try.
