Q: Does this round magsafe popsocket work OK on a naked iPhone without a case, or does it fall off?

As long as the iphone supports magsafe or you use the provided adapter ring yes. It holds strong enough, you really need to shake your phone for it to fall off. (I use it with an iPhone 13)

Q: Does it work on an Iphone with no case?

It does work but is not recommended to be used without a MagSafe case.
