Normcore’s newest take on tamping stations, works fine with flat portafilters & 58mm accessories
This product from Normcore arrived in the usual packaging they use, which is generally a matte black cardboard box with the company logo placed onto it. Inside the box you get the silicone tamping station which is protected and kept clean with a clear plastic pouch placed over it.It’s a fairly standard tamping station that requires the edge of a table or countertop to work, which you’ll either love or hate. I’m a bigger fan of the self-contained tamping stations that don't require the edge of a table or counter. This design takes up limited countertop or table space that could otherwise be used when the espresso machine isn’t needed. However, If you’ve got the space to spare or prefer this design then it’s as good as any other silicone tamping station that sits on the edge of a surface near your machine. So while it’s not my favourite design, the quality of the material and the moulding is spot on and I really can’t fault anything about the product, it fits all of my 58mm accessories without an issue and has space for everything Normcore claims it does on their website. It’s made from very thick and durable silicone that will have no issues gripping to and protecting surfaces from any potential damage and of course it cleans up very easily with a wipe from a dampened cloth in most cases. My only real complaint and a continuous trend with the Normcore stuff, is the fact that it’s very expensive for a relatively simple design made from plain old silicone. At the current asking price of £32.99 I can quite easily list off a half dozen alternatives that are made from nicely finished wood or anodised aluminium, for around the same price point. Generic silicone tamping stations with similar designs are generally £15-£20 for 58mm sized accessories, so I do think this is somewhat overpriced for what it is. Some of the Normcore is genuinely innovative and worth the price, but this is one of the ones that misses the mark for me personally. If you’re alright with the price point and want to get the Normcore version of a tamping station, then It’s perfectly fine, but I can’t say it’s doing anything unique or better than the dozens of alternatives out there.

Effetive For A Coffee Lover
I had never come across one of these before so when I saw it I wanted to give it a try. It's made form a non-slip material which is very handy as you can make a mess in the process. I like the fact it small enough to take over the sink and give a little tap to get rid of the waste. A good product that is although seems basic is actually very effective.

Impractical and expensive - updated
Update: I made it work by using a chopping board from Ikea, also I added the mat vertically (instead of horizontally). I will change the stars from 1 to 3 because I still find it expensive for what it is and it needs a very specific setup to make it work.Original review:+ good built quality- the portafilter is not straight when you try to tamp because the tamp station is not thick. I own the flair58 portafilter. You have to hold the portafilter with one hand and tamp with the other hand.I wish I got the Normcore stand v2 only just for tamping.- displaying all the tools and keeping them next to the edge of the kitchen counter is not very prettyabd not recommended if you have kidsNot recommended at all.

Great material
One thing I like about this espresso tamping station is the material. It's made of silicone and is non slippery. Another thing is the design, it's very efficient and neat.

Excellent quality but too expensive
This tamping station is well-made and very sturdy. The non-slip bottom works well and doesn't slip at all. It is priced at £32.99 at the time of review, which I think is too expensive so I knock one star for this reason.
