This is a well established text and this is the latest edition. It is an excellent book - informative and beautifully illustrated.

There are no colour pictures in the book, despite them being mentioned in the table of plates and despite them being advertised in the description of the book. Disappointing as it is not a cheap book and frustrating as the text refers to the colour plates as a means for gem identification.
