ice grips - no straps, chains or coils - for runners, walkers and workers

Okay, so they are not 12 point fully rigid climbing crampons, BUT:For walking on pavements encrusted with snow, névé and ice they do a good job. Have used them regularly here in Iceland and they can be worn in mixed conditions, including when the snow has melted away. Thought the initial price was in the steeper category, but compared to the studded rubber slip-on soles that wear-out so rapidly this is a product that WILL go the distance...June 2013 Upgrading my review to 5 stars. Have had one pair of "dedicated" boots fitted with Icespike to trek through snow and ice to work last winter. They will be used again next winter. Here in Iceland I frequently have to walk over frozen slush and glassy ice. This can be done with confidence whilst wearing Icespike, hence the 5 stars. Coming from an ice-climbing background, I was initially a bit cautious about walking on clear smooth ice, but these fears soon proved to be unfounded. Highly recommended from these high latitudes.

These are fantastic, I am a runner who used them on vacation in Norway during winter snow and ice, tracks and part bare tarmac. Complete grip everywhere running anywhere from 10 - 25ks even on fast down hill ski runs. If you're a runner the perfect light weight addition to your shoes for confident ice running.

Another thumbs up from Iceland - this time from a year-round runner in North Iceland. These really work, even on the worst ice that has frozen, melted, frozen and is starting to melt again. There are very few days when I cannot run outside and that is usually because of wind. I'm a pretty heavy-duty runner (100-150km per month in winter) and I've had mine for 3 years: the trainers wear out faster than the spikes so I take them out and reuse them in next year's shoes. I've had 2 or 3 that have worn down and another 2 or 3 lost.Which means I need to start replacing the spikes. And here's my grumble. In the US, you can replace the spikes (without the key) for 20 USD; but I cannot find this option in the UK. The prices are also much higher in the UK for the package (25 GBP compared to 30 USD).

Great product! Simple, durable and it actually works!! I only needed it for my 10k run but it was so useful that I used it on my wellies for when I walk the dog. Each pack came with 32 screws so I had more than enough to cover my running shoes and wellingtons. A sure thumbs up from me!!!!
