which size would you recommend for a 9" width and a 12 1/2 length laptop and with a mouse and keyboard too?

I advise you to choose the mousepad according to the sensitivity you use ... if you use little DPI, I recommend larger mousepads, so that you have more space to handle ... If you use a high DPI, a smaller mousepad will suit you well, thus consuming less space on your desk. Hope this helps! cya ;*

What is better, the qck+ or the zowie gsr for control, speed, and quality overall?

I think I like the QCK better overall it just feels like the mouse is gliding right across it.

Why is the medium more expensive than the large?

No idea but i can tell you the medium is huge so the large must be massive
