read that it is thick. how thick is it? thicker than a shake or ensure. my dad has swallowing issues.

I am 72. I don’t find this is particularly difficult to swallow but adding an equal amount of egg whites thins the drink and adds about 125 extra calories + about 25g of natural protein! AND since eggs are a food item there is far less chance of urgent bathroom visits. For the flavor I add coffee flavoring, caramel in my case. With egg whites, two tablespoons! BTW, egg whites can be bought by the quart . . . $3.99 where I live.

This is a liquid, kind of thick, you might want to add some water to dilute it a bit. The packages (serving size) are 8 ounces which is a regular glass. There are 27 - 8 ounces individual cartons in the box. It comes in vanilla or chocolate. I don't like the taste of either but have them as my only meal while I was going through radiation and they helped a lot! It is the liquid with the highest protein content in 8 ounces that I found in the market, maybe they have others but I couldn't find them.
