Throwing Hawk, Won league with it
This was my first Hawk purchase, specifically for throwing. You will see a couple complaints that are misfounded:1. Head keeps falling down the handle. A. This is called a drop head axe and is designed to behave this way,(this is designed for throwing) all you have to do is tap the head back down to the end of the handle or or "sling" the head back to the end, where the wedge shape of the handle holds it in place.2. the blade not being very sharp A. Throwing axes should not have a sharp blade, sharp narrow blades dull quicker and chip easier causing bigger issues when throwing. You are getting a throwing Axe with this guy, it is what it is designed for and it does it well, I won my very first league placing first with it. The throwing style can be a bit different to heavier axes, but it works well!

For the price, a definite deal
This isnt a 200-300 dollar tomahawk, that being said for less than 40 dollars its a steal. Looks wicked throws well and after 100+ tosses only nicks and scratches in the handle and paint. I truly enjoy it

Would be a good tomahawk for $20.
I don't do many bad reviews. I'm pretty easy to please, but I cannot get over this product.Like many who will be buying this tomahawk, I was spurred by Wranglerstar's review of it. He got it for $24, but once the video posted the demand pushed the price up to $38. I went for it anyway, due to the well made look that Cody's had. I knew that the edge would be non-existent and the haft would need a good fitting. What Cody's specimen didn't have was what caused me to take off 3 stars. The Handle:Let me start with the good part. I liked the handle. The grain ran at a 45 degree angle to the bit and was finished in a light wax. It does have a bit of heartwood in it, but I don't mind. The fit was good to the top if the eye, but had gaps at the bottom. This is not an uncommon problem on budget hawks. I generally ensure that the head doesn't move during use and not worry too much about it looking perfect. The Head:So mine came the same as Wranglerstar's, with about 1mm flat where the sides should meet to form an edge. I don;t think they intended to complete the edge, but just wanted to establish a bevel. Then things stared going south. The cheeks (sides) of the bit do have a nice rough finish and scale from forging and heat treating, but the top and bottom look like they were ground in the dark. The angle of the grind changes and multiple passes the don't line up. It looks like it was done by angle grinder and is similar to how metal looked when I first used the tool. I thought about trying to grind it flat myself, but considering I paid almost $40, I wanted something better than Cold Steel. This unfortunately is not it. The heads on the Cold Steels, while slathered in paint, are better finished.Overall, if this were to cost $24, I might get one. Might. This would be after getting all the Cold Steel hawks, and all the offerings I like from Crazy Crow Trading Co. If you want something of similar size, weight and style Cold Steel Frontier Hawk. It will cost a few dollars more, but is much better than the hawk I rec'd. Strip the paint and the varnish from the handle and it you will find a tomahawk much better than this one.Would not recommend.

Again whisky and Amazon purchases.
I really need to stop getting handed the phone by my son when I am drinking whisky with my friends or talking those clowns with my phone near by. Yea so we went axe throwing.. I was like i only own 1 throwing axe I live with 4 other people.. so ok. Now I own 10. There a lil light weight for my triplets. I know right. But there 12 the girls have a bit of an issue getting it to stick. But it does work I put a slightly better edge on them. So that seems to help. For not really needing 10 of these. There great.

Tomahawk head comes loose on every throw.
I like the hawk, but I have to tap the axe head in place after every throw. It's a little embarrassing during competition.

Well Made but Not Very Functional - Great for Prop or Show
Really, this particular axe depends on what you want from it. If you're looking for a functional work axe or a throwing hawk, then this is not the right one for you. It's craftsmanship is pretty good, but the weight distribution is off and blade heavy. That being said, it's not what I bought it for.If you want a Viking Axe with a bare handle, and you want to wood burn/stain/leather coil wrap the handle as a decorative or faire piece, then this thing is awesome. It has heft and a quality feel to it that seems beyond it's price tag.

Authentic
Scouts wanted a perfect match to what they threw during their Philmont trek. These are it! They plan on a competition in NOV. Great find, but not the "competition" version, we weren't looking for the chromed hatchets they throw. The tomahawk head is supposed to move during use, and we expected the head to come loose from the handle, because that's how authentic 'hawks work! I already locked in the underhand throw, BTW. Just need to cut some bigger biscuits, if you know what I mean. So, you throw 3 a piece so I got 6, and 6 of the smaller ones for smaller scouts. Competition gonna be epic!

Nice and crude. Just like an axe should be.
I've bought a lot of axes via Amazon lately, and this one is sort of my favorite. I say 'sort of' and only gave it 4 stars because, in truth, this is a pretty crude piece of wood and metal. However, it is that very crudeness that lends itself to my purpose, that being living history. The others I've bought were from Cold Steel, which are fine implements, but they bear all the hallmarks of factory manufacture. They're too perfect. This thing? It's ugly, and doesn't bother with the stupid hex pins Cold Steel uses to fix their axe heads in place. If you'e ever give those a swing, you know they're worthless. The pin goes and you do a friction fit.The other reason I have to give it 4 stars is that the axe and handle fit were atrocious. I could see daylight through the gaps. However, a little epoxy putty and some hemp twine wrapped 'round it, and it's good to go.
