Hisense PL1 Ultra Short Throw Home Theater Smart Projector, 80"-120", 4K UHD, Dolby Vision & Atmos, HDR10, Google TV, Netflix, 2200 ANSI Lumens

I just had my home theater upgraded but I originally planned to purchase a long throw projector with a motorized screen that hangs from the ceiling. I contacted a local company that specializes in home theaters and during my initial site visit, the owner of the company didn't recommend this, due to the size of my room and would be too costly to run HDMI cables and mounting the projector my ceiling; he suggested for me to purchase a 75 inch TV. I just happened to do a search on the cost of Ultra Short Throw Projectors and the Hisense PL1 was listed first and the price wasn't that expensive, less than $2000.00. My 55 inch TV is a Hisense and it's an awesome TV and I'm familiar with the functionality, therefore I decided to purchase the PL1. I could barely see the laser lights projecting my images to my screen. BTW I have a 100 inch ALR 16:9 projector screen, which I highly recommend. The picture is beautiful and bright, much better than my 55 inch, which I moved to my bedroom. Watching movies are so immersive, it feels like I'm in a commercial movie theater. Because of my Hisense PL1 projector, I have a true home theater!!

I did review this with more stars right after I bought it. But I bought this about a year ago. A pixel right in the middle of the screen died and now everything I watch has a white spot right in the middle. Super annoying. There was no reason for this, just happened. So I sent a warranty claim as it’s something this should cover. Basically they told me that an issue this small isn’t worth servicing. Well it’s pretty much ruined all viewing experience for this system but you know, Hisense says I just have to live with it. Absolutely will not recommend this to anyone looking to get something like I have. More a 1 star for their service than product but will never buy something from them again.

Works great, I run it at 110in and it looks great especially YouTube vids.

Nice projector and I watch it even during daylight hours. It’s suuuuper annoying that there’s something weird about the power cord—it makes a very quiet high pitched noise consistently. It bothers me much more than it bothers my husband. I have to unplug the projector every time I’m not using it so it doesn’t drive me absolutely insane. On another note, I’m impressed by the sound quality as well

During the Google TV setup, the Google Home app stopped. Now the TV is stuck at the setup stage but the app does not recognize the TV. A reset of the TV goes right back to the setup stage. I called the support number but this TV does not have a way to do a factory reset via a reset button. It is now a brick. This problem could happen at other times such as as update that fails. Having the only way to factory reset being dependent on being able to go into the software settings is a poor design.

I recently purchased this projector and i cant tell you guys how much i love it, the motion is extremely smooth when watching it in comparison to my viewsonic projector , it feels like a tv, the quality of the image is stunning.

I don’t always write reviews but I must say I’m very happy with my purchase, image quality is very good, paired this with a 90” ALR screen and Apple TV and I am more the satisfied. Setup takes a little patience to get ever dialed in, but one that is done you just sit back and enjoy, definitely a huge upgrade from a 60” TV I owned for many years. I can’t think of many features that are missing from this UST. Would definitely suggest this to anyone, however I believe a good screen is key. Got mine from overseas for a fraction of the price.

I had this for a year and it now has a white dot in the upper right corner. Do not buy!

So overall this is a great projector. Pros: -It’s not loud and doesn’t run hot. -Very sharp and great Dolby vision output -Speakers are loud compared to a TV, but chances are you will have a sound system attached anyway -Google OS is smooth Cons. -Everytime the power goes out, you have to re-login to your Google account. Really annoying -HDR doesn’t seem to do a good job, if there are bright and dark scenes, the dark colours are washed away. In Dolby vision this isn’t such a concern. -Dolby vision doesn’t seem to work on Prime (this can be resolved if you use a fire stick) -contrast is ok

As others have mentioned this is very hard to calibrate to a screen. The geometric calibration didn't work for me. All in all for what you pay It's a decent picture unfortunately definitely not perfect hopefully this will last as it's a much cheaper projector than my last one but so far it works well and I'm happy with it.
