Will this work for an Igloo Koolmate hot/cold model?

Yes! Better version...basically an upgrade...mine did not over heat...even after running steady overnight!!!

What if it melts? Is it covered by warranty?

mine melted 1 year after I purchased so I just ordered new 12v cord which I feel was much better model...upgraded model perhaps...

The cord does operate the Igloo electric cooler.
