DIY opening repair tool kit for XBox 360

Since I was taking apart my Xbox 360 for the first time, I decided to order this "special tool kit" to make things easier. It only took me about 15-20 min to fully disassemble, replace the fan (it was failing), and reassemble. And I took my time as I was curious to see how it all went together. While the tool did help get those 6 tabs pushed in, it could have been done without it. It would just take a bit more time. I actually used my own small flat-head screw driver and T10 for most of this process. Although I did test out the full "functionality" of the tool to see if it would work, had I not had my own tools. And it worked just fine. Especially if you only need to use them once or twice.As others have said, yes, the flat metal piece is a bit flimsy. The included T10 wrench is small, solid, and gets the job done. Although you wouldn't want to use it to remove a bunch of those screws. But what do you want for a $2 piece of metal made in China? :) If it were better built, it would cost more, and I wouldn't have even bothered with it. Unless you take these things apart every day, there's just no reason for a higher quality item.If you want a little help taking apart your Xbox 360, you really can't go wrong with this cheap, yet helpful little tool kit.Extra Tip: If you've taken apart computers before, this will be easy. If not, it's still fairly easy. You'll just need to go slow and take your time. In either case, checking out some of the many helpful guides on-line is always recommended.

This product can save you a lot of time if you ever have a need to open up an XBox 360 gaming consoles. I have done so in the past without using this tool with varying results and I am not implying that it cannot be done without this tool. However I have damaged the plastic clips on the inside of the console as a result of trying to pry one open with this tool. I give it a four out of five rating because the tool is a little flimsy and after you use it a couple of times you have to bend the prongs back to their original location. This is not a huge deal but it is an inconvenience.

This little tool kit worked great, I got this as well as a replacement drive for my brother's Christmas present. Without this tool he would have never been able to pop open the 360. Unfortunately it was the drive I got him, didn't fit his 360 model. But just using this tool to open her up seems to have fixed it. If you're looking into doing any 360 repair, you so have to get this tool kit.Take it, even with the tool opening your 360 isn't a piece of cake. But check out youtube and look around the web. You can find several easy to follow video guides that will step you threw the process.

Got the job done. The tool is a soft metal, so expect it to work for home use, but not as a tool if you're going to do work in a shop. I had to take my xbox apart a second time after a fan failed, and the tool didn't really hold it's shape.

I purchased this tool when I needed to replace my Xbox's DVD-ROM drive. It made it a lot easier to open the case. I've done it before, and always needed someone else to help hold it while I pushed the tabs with a screwdriver. Not it's possible to push them all at once without help from anyone. Nice tool. I ordered it and got it fast too... in 3 days.

This tool works very well. I've used it on several occasions between friends, and it has been reliable tool Simple caution should be exercised with the pointer tool (popping the side clips). One could very easily bend this part. Once bent, it might survive a single bend back into place if you are lucky. The metal is very thin, and will fatigue easily.

It's definitely worth it if you're opening up an xbox 360, you'll need it.

I bought this to attempt to fix my RROD 360. The tools help me easily open the box. Follow instructions posted online and you will not have any problems. The tool may bend easily so be carefully while using it.
