The Xtool OBD2 scanner paid for itself the first time i used it on my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I had received a Check engine light and the car seemed to be running fine, but the check engine lite stayed on. I first took the Xtool OBD2 scanner made sure it had the latest updates (the 3 years of free updates is a money saver). I plugged in the scanner to the Jeep and ran all the tests. The tool found that my Evap Pump Was faulty thru the Code it gave me. i called around to different dealers to ask what they would charge to change the Evap pump. The dealer cost was $495+ parts ($75). As i'm a Diy mechanic, I was able to buy the part for $22 and install it myself. With this fix the Xtool OBD2 scanner paid for itself with detecting one issue. The OBD2 scanner have so many brilliant features and it's processor is so fast you will not be wasting your time waiting on the tool to go thru the systems. you can tell it to do a full scan or you can select more targeted systems you want to scan. The create a key feature is a bonus for this Tool. This function will pay for itself after 1 or 2 uses. (just send an email to Xtool to make sure that the tool is compatible with your car to program the Key Fob) not all cars are compatible. I have also used this tool on my VW Passat. i ran a full test and the tool picked up that i had a faulty Passenger door window switch. The switch was still working, but the light bulb had gone out inside the switch. This was another quick fix and the part was 80% cheaper too buy outside of the dealer. I recommend this tool for anyone. The Xtool OBD2 scanner has paid for itself. You can't beat the price especially when they give you 3 years of free updates for free. you will be amazed with the speed and user friendly interface. There are many other manufactures out there with their fancy tools, but Xtool Will give them a run for their money both in performance and Price.

With so many OBD-II scanners on the market, it can be a daunting task to select the right tool. My approach was to consider a few factors, all of which culminated in my decision to go with the XTOOL D7S. -Factor 1 (Support): Not all scanners can perform every diagnostic function for all vehicles. Thus it’s important to verify your specific vehicle(s) with customer service as the first step in order to determine whether or not the tool can do what you want it to. -XTOOL excelled in this area of support, they were the only scanner company out of 8 that replied to my email inquiry within 12 hours. After establishing contact with XTOOL, my follow-on inquiries were answered by “Jenny” in just a matter of hours, even on the weekend. They were honest and informative. -Factor 2 (Diagnostic Capabilities): I was experiencing intermittent drivability issues on my 5.7 Jeep. Loud clunking sounds at low speed, loss of forward momentum (felt like the driveshaft was disconnected), dash lit up with traction control and ABS lights and a warning to service the ABS and 4x4 systems. -The D7S proved its weight in gold as it positively identified a faulty left/rear wheel speed sensor. Live-Data showed 3 wheels at 25 mph and the left/rear wheel at 0 mph, while in Park, the 3 good sensors reflected 0 mph and the faulty sensor reflected 8,191 rpm. The D7S displayed 4 related DTC’s, all of which resulted from the faulty wheel speed sensor. -Ordered an OEM wheels speed sensor, installed it and an hour and $48 later, my Jeep was driving like new. -Factor 3 (Cost): The D7S is pricy compared to allot of inexpensive scanners, but the D7S is not an inexpensive scanner. It’s a quality tool. It’s fast, easy to use and has the potential to pay for itself after just one use. Plus, it’s well supported. -I’m impressed with XTOOL, both their products and support. Unlike some other companies that only provide annual scanner updates, XTOOL has their head in the game and provides monthly updates with just the push of a button. You can really tell that XTOOL is a company who’s really committed to their customers and product development.

The XTOOL D7S V2.0 OBD2 Scanner is a well-rounded, professional-grade diagnostic tool that delivers impressive performance across a variety of functions. Its special functions and bidirectional/actuation controls elevate it well above entry-level scanners, placing it in a category that rivals more expensive diagnostic tools. The ability to send commands to components like the ABS pump, A/C clutch, and fuel pump enhances its utility by enabling precise fault diagnosis and repair verification. With 36+ maintenance services, this scanner is an excellent tool for workshops and advanced DIY enthusiasts. Special functions include ABS bleeding, oil status reset, electronic park brake maintenance mode for brake jobs, battery registration, and injector coding, as well as the ability to program certain key fobs. However, these functions are vehicle-specific, so it is recommended to confirm compatibility with the manufacturer before purchasing if you have a particular use case in mind. The live data graphing is another standout feature, making it easier to interpret system performance through intuitive visual displays. The ability to playback and record live data adds flexibility, allowing for detailed analysis and troubleshooting over time. Additionally, the scanner can generate professional-looking reports of diagnostic results and live data, which can be saved and emailed—an invaluable feature for those managing multiple vehicles, tracking diagnostic results over time, or working with clients. To date, this scanner has enabled me to diagnose and fix issues including a vehicle misfire, a faulty HO2S sensor, and a malfunctioning Transmission Control Module (TCM) across several vehicles I own. While its broad range of features may feel overwhelming for beginners, the tool is well-organized and intuitive for experienced users. It comes with three years of free software updates. After that, a subscription is required for updates, though the scanner remains fully functional without them. One drawback was compatibility with my 2009 European car; it caused the vehicle not to start after performing the diagnostic process, requiring a battery reset. However, XTOOL’s customer service was highly responsive in assisting with this issue. Overall, the XTOOL D7S V2.0 offers excellent value for its price. It is not perfect, but its combination of robust capabilities and affordability makes it best in class for this price range. Highly recommended for those seeking a versatile, professional-grade diagnostic tool without breaking the bank

It is a well build product, impressive and very durable plastic case for 4 stars. But it does very little for my 2004 Suburban 5.3 -1 star. Sadly, I returned it. Xtool admitted it can do only a few things I hoped for. I guess old vehicles just don't have a good or smart enough computer.

The xTool D7S packs "big shop" power into a portable, affordable tablet. It bridges the gap between basic code readers and thousand-dollar professional units. The D7S includes several advanced features typically reserved for premium scanners like Autel or Snap-On: Full Bi-Directional Control: You can perform over 4,000 active tests, such as cycling the fuel pump, testing A/C clutches, or operating windows and wipers to verify hardware without turning a wrench. Advanced ECU Coding: Usually a high-tier feature, the D7S supports online and offline coding for a wide variety of US and foreign produ ed automobiles and trucks; both gas and diesel. I have experienced it's quality performance on a number of automibles and a 6.6 Duramax as well as a current hybrid. It doesn't just read engine codes; it accesses every module in the vehicle (ABS, SRS, Transmission, TPMS) for deep-level troubleshooting. 39+ Special Functions are available from ABS bleeding and injector coding to crankshaft relearn and key programming, it handles complex maintenance tasks that cheaper tools simply can't. Summary: If you want professional-grade diagnostics—including 3 years of free updates and a fast Android 10 interface—without the four-figure price tag, I found that the D7S is the best value on the market.
