I like this tape measure. I have always trusted DeWalt and this tape measure did not let me down. Nice and thick. I have had it out to 10' without bending or twisting. It shows fractions which is a plus. The numbers are large and easy to read without my reading glasses, another plus for me. The lock and clip work good. It is very rugged and good quality. My only complaint is that the when the tape measure is set down on a surface it rests on the catch at the end of the tape and does not rest on the case itself. This might cause problems over time.

Finally I have a tape measure that fills all my wants. I needed a new tape measure because the 35' S*anley Fat Max lock was almost impossible to lock from the beginning (super stiff to lock) and once I shot the locking tab with a bit of silicon spray to free it up, it won't stay locked. Also it was way too big to hold comfortably and I have XL hands. Since I'm measuring from wall to wall using the tape body as part of the measurement for crown molding I'm putting up it's imperative that the measurements be dead on. As soon as I received the Dewalt I measured a wall to wall I have the exact measurements of and it was perfect! I was worried since it has protective rubber outside the plastic case but they accounted for it. Like others have commented, the opening on the bottom that allows your finger to hold the tape and allows you to adjust the retract speed was a brilliant idea and it works perfectly. I had my doubts about the 13'* (note the asterisk) reach (never could find the asterisk info). I'm able to free air extend the tape a bit over 9' without it snapping. My experience with all tapes is anything much over 9' free air extension will start drooping the tape too much for an accurate measurement anyhow. Finally, to safely remove the tape from the packaging, open the cardboard split starting at the top going down and once that's open the the formed plastic on the clip is freed up. There is a triangular tab in the middle of the belt clip in the plastic. Flip up the plastic tab in front of the triangle piece, slightly open the clip with your finger then the tape can be lifted up and out of the plastic holder. I took pictures for reference. I'm very happy with tape measure and it should last me a long, long time.

I picked this up because I needed something less bulky than my standard 35ft tape, and the Atomic Compact Series is the perfect size for a tool belt or pocket without sacrificing durability. The 30 ft. reach is impressive for such a small footprint, and the tape itself feels sturdy with a smooth retraction. The housing is rugged enough to handle the occasional drop on the job site. Works well. Neat features like the opening at the bottom that makes it so you can stop it (didn’t think I’d like that but I do). Made well - Very durable and sturdy.

We like this one for small projects, but we also bought the 25' one and discovered that it has measurements on the back side as well. This 16' one does not. The tape measure is wide, so it will stand up to long measurements without collapsing, but because it is wide... it is also a bit bulky/heavy for the ability to just grab a tape measure out of the drawer to get a quick measurement. Fits in a medium to large hand nicely.

DEWALT Atomic Compact Series 30 ft. Tap This my favorite tape measure. Feels good in the hand. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking! Only have to tighten the belt clasp screw every now and then otherwise a tank and super easy to read!

Just like all of the tools by DeWalt, they are perfect for novice users and doing projects around the house. It’s very durable and easy to maneuver. The tape length is sixty inches fully extended which is all I need for the projects I’m doing around the house.The tape itself is very flexible in measuring uneven edges such as window frames. It’s great for all kinds of projects that require measuring. It measures with precision and accuracy. It’s not bulky or too heavy so it’s very easy to use. For the price of it, it’s a good purchase for professionals or novice users. The spring action is very strong so care must be taken when rolling the tape back. A great buy!

This is a really good product, robust enough for general site use. Yes it is only Imperial - but it was meant for the US market and happily I'm old enough to use whatever system I want.

What can I say - I love Dewalt tools! This measuring tape is great. The casing is strong with added protection in case it's dropped. The belt clip works very well and is easy to remove which comes in handy when working from a ladder. The measuring tape itself is sturdy, retracts beautifully, and the numbers are easy to read even from a distance. Overall a great measuring tape!

Yeah baby! This is exactly what professional carpenters need. This tape measure is extra strong, extra durable, extra efficient in day-to-day use. It will take a beating and keep on repeating long after all the others have died and failed. You can extend this tape measure beyond 10 feet and it’s still won’t kink or buckle. The retraction mechanism is perfect. The locking mechanism is tight and works without any flaws. You could drop this tape from two stories above, and I doubt that the case would crack. I highly recommend this 30 foot tape measure for anyone that wants good quality that will last them for a good long, long time. Oh, and the red numbering system makes it a breeze to see just a glance; the readability of this tape measure is unbeatable. It’s the best one I’ve ever had!
